Workwear farewell

These past weeks have been a culmination to Friday 23rd November, my last day at the office for 3months. That's right, 3 months of no work, no finance proposals, no client meetings!
What will I do with myself? I am filled with trepidation, as I think about my job and realise that I absolutely love and enjoy it, and to be without it for 3 months?!
My career has been my purpose for the longest time; separate to being a mum, wife and friend. And so much energy and hard work- what shall I do for stimulation?

Well, I suppose one has to jump in with both feet and give it a go, to really know what a 3 month sabbatical will bring my way. As the saying goes: "If you are brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello".

So I have decided to do a few posts on workwear since I probably won't be wearing them for a while.

Since I work in a formal environment, one always has to look professional. At times I try to bring in a bit of a playful element with an accessory, handbag or a pop of colour. Seen below is one of my more formal looks, where I have paired a structured jacket with a textured pencil skirt.

Here I am wearing:

Country Road jacket| French Connection lace skirt| Kenneth Cole Heels

More look posts will follow as I have more free time.

Ciao for now,

She Zone Fashion Show

I recently attended a fashion show which displayed pieces desgined and manufactured by Shahida Holmes Khan.  Shahida was employed in the retail industry, managing exclusive brands before embarking on her own line, equipping her with the relevant skills.

The final lot of outfits

She Zone was started by Shahida Holmes Khan in July 2012 and is targeted at the Modern Muslim Woman. She has conducted research studying womens body shape, the changes that our bodies goes through and how it makes us feel. And more importantly how it ties in with being a Muslim woman. In response to her client’s demands she started creating modest designs which includes workable basics.
The pieces exude a relaxed, stylish feel for the free spirited woman with inspiration drawn from the latest international catwalk trends. The aim is to make items affordable.
Shahida promotes a classical style of dressing, whilst keeping it modest.
She Zone has two ranges namely: pieces with a "fresh and funky" appeal and pieces with a "pure and classic" appeal.  The items are designed in such a way  that they can be paired in different ways.

Here's some of her beautiful creations:

Shahida says:  “Personally, I feel clothing is an art - you follow the basic rules, and the rest is....all play!!”

She Zone also offers styling, wardrobe consultations and personal shopping.

The Last Match with Neon sweats

It is with such a sense of relief that we attended my son's last soccer match for the season. It has been a really long season stretching from February this year to the end of November. Seeing the development in these young boys over the past couple of months has been amazing. From innocent, playful youngsters, they have become disciplined, considerate little people. It's really inspiring and I'm grateful to the people who took time out of their days to spend with our sons.

Lets take some doughnuts home for my brothers too!

It was also the first time our summer sportswear saw the light on the soccer field. Soccer being a winter sport, usually means you bundle up in UGGS or wellies with as many layers as possible to guard against the Cape Town winter.

Yesterday I was so happy to don my summer sports wear as seen below:

Wearing Nike sportswear as well as my favorite neon sneakers! I must admit I have received a few raised eyebrows from my family members regarding these bright pieces!

Then off to a fashion show, the launch of the second range for She-zone, a line of modest yet fashionable pieces. More on this show in a separate post.

Here's a few snaps of my outfit:
Pandora silver bracelet| Swarovski necklace

Wearing:
Woolworths t-shirt| Makro maxi skirt| Country Road docksiders| Blackcherry slingbag

That's it for now...

White jeans trend for summer : Lookpost

Colour denims are a big trend right now, and I remember the 90's where the colour Levis 501 was the in thing. The white jeans were also a big hit and for a while thereafter regarded as tacky and uncool. Those of you who have been yearning for the trend to return, it is back! It is also suitable for any age. Whilst jeans are a staple, what changes constantly is the style, length and cut. The new look is the slim cropped jeans or skinny.

It is so versatile and can be dressed up or down, for a casual lunch date or semi formal occasion (office casual perhaps?). Dress it up with heels and a blazer for an office casual look or for a more casual look, strappy flats and t shirt.

Here's my take on the white denim trend:
Worn as business casual for an informal meeting.

Pippa Middleton has been seen sporting the white jeans. Have a look at how she's styled it:

If you're not comfortable with this season's hottest neon denim trend the white jeans is absolutely a stylish substitute.
