Fashion week inspiration

These fashion weeks can really consume a lot of your time! Whilst I enjoy browsing the new looks for the next season, it sometimes put it all in perspective... The cost of haute couture is unbelievable, and its not always the holy grail, so instead I turn to the ready to wear collections which cost way less.
A few of my favourites at LFW AW2013, were Paul Smith with the gorgeous colour blocking; Burberry Prorsum with gorgeous red accents and Tom Ford with geometric prints and animal prints.

The important thing I take from these shows is what is trending, how to make it look on your budget and have fun! It's also rather interesting to see how the old trends are being "re-worked" and it makes me regret giving away all my things to charity to make space for the new!

I therefore did a recon of my closet and found a pair of Forever New heels which I haven't worn in a while... and they would certainly work with todays trend. Chunky heel, check; platform peep-toe, check; pretty pastel, check!

Valentine's Day at the Galileo

I usually regard Valentines Day as a day to celebrate something special...

♥ LOVE♥

Whether its romantic love or any other version it's always special. Your loved ones can always cheer you up when you down, know when you're worried or scared and will always be there for you.

♥LOVE♥

I am blessed to have a special someone who makes me laugh, shares my joys and lows and above all, always makes me feel loved. I wish that everyone will someday find that same sharing of souls :-). Most years we do a low key Valentines, and this year we decided to spend the evening at the Galileo Cinema at Kirstenbosch. We watched a classic romantic movie "Love Actually" which I can watch a million times!

It was a lovely cool evening, thankfully the rain had stopped and the clouds disappeared, resulting in a pleasant evening. The movie was enjoyable, the ambience was relaxing and the vendors spot on! All in all, we had a great evening. I would recommend the outdoor cinema experience to anyone who hasn't tried it yet.

Since it was a cool chilly evening, I donned a long knit top and military leather jacket with my coloured
denims.

I was wearing:

Guess Knit Top
Country Road Denims
Next UK Leather Jacket
Scarf from Indian Trade Fair
Woolworths Wedges
Turquoise Earring by Lovisa

Dirty Dancing Musical

The past weekend we went to see the Dirty Dancing musical. I absolutely loved the movie, it's one of those classics you could never tire of. The show was held at the Artscape Theatre, and has been booked solid for all the performances- an indication of it's popularity I suppose.

As with any musical, it was big and bold and thoroughly entertaining. The only thing that bothered me slightly was the american accent used by the actor playing Johnny (Gareth Bailey), it was heavy and really difficult to understand. Baby (Bryony Whitfield) also didnt really mature during the live show as she does on the movie, and it is a coming of age story. All this aside, the dancing was pretty good and as expected amazing costumes and set design.

The highlight of the show was of course the end scene where they perform the "lift" and the audience broke out into applause enthusiastically. Billy (Kyle Grant) did a beautiful rendition of "In the Still of the Night" and "I had the time of my Life"- that performance was defintely spot on!

Since it was a Saturday night theatre evening I decided to dress up. I wore my Perry Book princess skirt with and emeral wrap top from Trenery.

Enjoy the pics!

A delicious meal, although the tandoori wings were a bit spicy for hubby!
