Holiday Lookpost

Hello again readers,

Life has not yet returned to normal from the chaos of an impromptu family wedding this past weekend, and having our Australian guests depart for home.
I have so many photos of my trip for my Dubai post, it’s taking a while to sift through what I’d like to share. What I did manage to do one morning was shoot a relaxed lookpost on the grounds of our amazing hotel, Jumeirah Beach Hotel. These were taken on our way to one of the breakfast spots on the hotel premises. Looks like a dream, doesn’t it?

Thanks Mark for the hook up. #markcross

The weather was always really warm, so I would opt for lightweight clothing as the days were usually pretty humid, even early in the morning. My favourite item of clothing for this kind of weather is usually a maxi skirt or dress, paired with sandals. In this case a pair of flat sandals as the days usually involved loads of walking. An essential accessory for the burning sun is always a hat or peak cap, and this one always travels with me as it is a packable hat and doesn’t lose shape when packed flat.

This is one of my favourite maxi skirts, since it combines colour with animal print - a typical River Island piece. I was lucky and managed to grab it on a previous year’s sale abroad. Paired with a t-shirt by Lucy Goretti, from the Style Society Pop Up Boutique.

Charming nautical stripes

Hi lovely readers,

I’m getting into a slow start for 2015, but I have been so busy with guests, personal issues and visiting family that I have had little time for anything else.
This post has been in draft for a while, since it was a tribute post to all the lovely friends I have made through my blogging journey. It’s amazing that I have encountered such warm, open hearted individuals who bring sunshine, laughs and new experiences to my life. I am truly grateful.

Late last year, a few of these beautiful souls gathered at a picturesque little spot, Queen of Tarts, in Observatory to celebrate Leana’s (Hipstyler, Pretty & Ginger) birthday. It was such a darling, pretty little bistro, Amina (The All Seeing Lens) and I decided to do an impromptu photo shoot, directed by Naeema (The Jam Jar). It was so much fun, we literally took over the place, giggling and laughing which resulted in very few fashion blog worthy photos… these I think need to be more serious? Amina is really a breath of fresh air and , so I love having her take photos, and Naeema, the perfect director and perfectionist (but doesn’t like photographing humans despite her awesome photographic talent!). I really love how the pictures came out after all the shots we had to retake:-D

Amina has done a post from the photographer’s perspective, read all about it here.

My outfit for the morning included paring a vintage blazer, from Vintage in the City, with a skinny jeans and my latest favourite lace up ZARA heels.

Enjoy the photos!

Hello 2015!

Welcome to 2015 beautiful readers!

It’s been a long and rewarding break for me and my family. It feels as if I have been on holiday forever, and I’m somehow struggling to get into the groove of reality.
This week, getting my kids textbooks and stationery certainly gave me that wake up call that I so dearly needed.
And BAM!
Back to the real world of schedules, obligations, commitments and so on and so on….

My holiday started the day after school closed, we literally flew out before the kids reports had even arrived! It was a wonderful anniversary trip (more to follow in another blog post), and followed by our usual timeshare getaway to Pine Lake Marina with my sister and family. It really feels like home away from home- except without all the duties of being Mum at home hehe.

I had ample time to reflect on the 2014 year, to appreciate the highs, to weigh up the lows - and basically give thanks for all the wonderful experiences. I am so grateful for all the wonderful people in my life,  who bring smiles and sunshine in different ways and make each day a gift.
I don’t do New Years resolutions, but I always endeavour to learn a new skill or experience something new and if I’m lucky, see a place I never have.

I would like to say thank you to all my readers for taking the time to visit my page, to comment and interact with me on social media. It’s really appreciated!

May you guys have a wonderful and prosperous 2015!

And onto a lookpost from 2014… Whilst on holiday I saw kimonos everywhere, probably because they are so versatile and can be dressed up or down. The relaxed fit trend is continuing into 2015 and I love it! Today’s look features a  gorgeously floral Minimal Exposure kimono dressed up with heels and accessories.

Kimono from Minimal Exposure
Country Road t-shirt
Woolworths jeggings
Scarf from Bespoke Hijabi
