My modest look: stars and stripes

I thought I would share with you my recent modest, hijabi appropriate looks which I wore when a family member left for a visit to Mecca. It's such a spiritual journey and definitely one I would like to undertake, it is of course obligatory as a pillar of my religion. I love these occasions as the entire family gathers to wish the travellers well on their journey and also to soak up some spiritual inspiration.

I always have difficulty wrapping my scarf and have been checking out tutorials and pics from fellow bloggers who were kind enough to share some tips. Here are some pics of how I 'managed' to wrap my scarf (turban), and ensured that it stayed in place!

I am wearing my #Scarfstop star print scarf, which has now become one of my favourite scaves, and a striped maxi bought ages ago at Truworths.

I was wearing:

Scarfstop scarf
Country Road cardigan
Truworths maxi dress
Trenery belt
Country Road pumps
Necklaces: Pink-SassDiva, Beads- the Space
Earrings: Sass @ Stuttafords
Bracelets: Honey & Guess
Sling studded bag: Wardrobe

An evening with Cirque du Soleil

Last weekend I attended Cirque Du Soleil, the Canadian "circus", or rather, an organized show of street performers. They are actually a group of amazing contortionists and performers and I was thoroughly entertained. The costumes, props and music all culminated into a spectacular show. It is obvious why they are such a huge hit worldwide, they also incorporate various cultures into their acts.

The cute clowns (not really clowns in the traditional sense) also brought a welcome element of humour to evening. I was further impressed by the singing, the two performers had such beautiful voices. All in all it was an enjoyable evening, and really what I needed to relax! Nothing like a trip into fantasy land to help you ease the mind.

I decided to wear a sparkly top with spikes (my favourite trend of the moment) with gladiator heels. I also paired a cropped leather jacket in case it turned chilly (unfortunately I don't have a pic ;( )

I was wearing:
Top by Linx @ Zando
ZARA jeans
Witchery Sandals

Polka dot luncheon

My apologies for neglecting the blog, but its due to so many things happening at home.
My second son, Ameer, starts high school next year, so we've been preparing applications and attending open days. My youngest Ihsaan, has decided he's a mini Masterchef, and has joined a cooking club- this means Mommy has to constantly buy the required ingredients for the next recipe! It never ends....

And of course, I am also now without my domestic worker, which complicates things a lot more. So when my sister suggested some time out for shopping and lunch, I was more than ready! I even managed to find a lovely pair of polka dot pumps on sale at Country Road (pics to follow). I am so into prints right now, stars, polka dots and stripes and even tropical.

It was such a lovely way to destress, forget about the housework and all the other responsibilities. And my sister has the knack for making me feel better about everything in general. Anyone who is blessed to have a sister knows, you have your ups and downs , but in the end you love them to bits and that's all that matters!

For the lunch I paired my polka dot cardigan with red wedges with a nautical striped heel detail:

I was wearing:
Jeans | ZARA
Vest & cardigan: Mr Price
Wedge heels: Woolworths (old)
Bracelets: Honey & Tiffany
Necklace: Sass Diva
Sunglasses: CK
