Last of the summer rays

Living in Cape Town, one has to get used to four seasons in one day.  Well, Autumn is on the way and whist we have some cooler chilly days, the warmer sunny ones creep in occasionally. This past weekend could possibly have been the last of our balmy days.  And although the sun is shining and the air is warm, it's unfortunately not enough to coax me into our freezing sea water. However, we still decided to spend an afternoon on Blouberg dunes , well any excuse for ice-cream right?

The ambience was so relaxed and laid back, unlike the hustle and bustle of Atlantic Seaboard on a Sunday afternoon. It's like a soothing balm for the soul, to just soak up the sun and stare out over the water (not forgetting the awesome view of Table Mountain to add to the relaxation).

Choosing the correct outfit for these unpredictable days is a bit difficult, and I think the best would be to wear some summer basics and layer it to keep out any unexpected chill.

As I'm posting this, its raining cats and dogs, so Winter is here!

I therefore decided to wear my Diligo swallow print maxi dress layered with a cropped denim jacket.

Bon Jovi Rocking

I love music. I love concerts. I LOVE Bon Jovi!

Listening to their music takes me back to high school, the parties, hanging out, dating my hubby and our early marriage. Absolutely great times (in hindsight it always is though) and I always look back fondly. I am a rock chick, and yes I am now a mom to two teenage boys, but I will never lose that identity. (Richie sSambora- you were missed!!!)

So you can only imagine that when it was announced that Bon Jovi were to tour our sunny shores, I was on cloud nine. I was in line for pre-sales, bagged my tickets and had to wait a good few months before they arrived.

The weather seemed to play along for the concert, it was a stunning evening with people picnicking around the stadium. The fans were wound up, excited, singing out loud- I could not believe it has been 18 years since their last tour. When they arrived on stage, I don't think I stopped screaming for the entire two hours? Song after song performed by this rock legend was simply indescribable. Jon can still rock as hard as the granny next to me (not surprising they have that effect!) for two hours solid.

It was one of those amazing experiences, filed with all my lifelong memories.
Apologies for the quality of the pics... taken with my phone lol.

Perry Book Wedges

I'm sure I've mentioned before how much I covet wedge sneakers. And even though I bought a pair late last year, I've spill been wanting those Marants. So when the Perry Book stocked some red wedges, I was there in a flash.

I absolutely love these babies! They are comfy, stylish and the red pair make a statement!

It also seems as if t the wedge sneakers are hanging around for another season, as they've been spotted around for Spring/Summer 2013. So go ahead... get a pair!

I am wearing:
Legend denim shirt
ZARA t-shirt
Mr Price Scarf
Woolworths skinny jeans

Fun with boys

It's been a while since my last post, but I found myself playing nursemaid to sick boys these past two weeks. I suppose I shouldn't complain as they're not usually this ill, it's also made me realize how fast they grow up!

I watch as they walk into school or on the soccer field and cannot believe that they are little men in the making. It becomes clearer  the older they get (and of course taller!). At times i feel nostaligic for times when they were younger, and keen to spend time with mum and dad. Now most of the time we spend together consists of driving to and fro, and the usual mealtime get togethers. Its sad to become waware that the 'old' days are gone, that your responsibilites are getting greater.

Whilst I know that I cannot turn back the clock, I do know that its important to spend as much time as I can with them. These moments are so transient, and when they were sick it was like having my three little babies again! Now they are all better, back to being busy with school, sport, friends and games!

My word of advice to mums and future mums out there is to enjoy the trials and tribulations... and more importantly cherish the good times. In fact, hold all the moments dear in your hearts. :-)

I've put together some pics of some memorable family moments...
