Maxidress and leather

Hello again lovely readers!

This has been a whirlwind week, with so much happening and I find myself exhausted beyond belief at the end of the day! I sometimes wonder how I managed to hold it all together with a full time career as well…. and then I realise that I actually didn’t! The stress and burnout eventually caught up with me and my body gave me some warning signs- lesson learnt- listen to your body.

The problem is I cannot be idle, my brain struggles to shut down properly so I can have a good nights sleep, I can’t nap during the day and don’t even know the meaning of the word CHILL. The list of things to do pop into my head at any moment and the anxiety sets in if I missed anything on that ‘list’! I know this may sound crazy, and since going on sabbatical I’ve tried to work really hard to be more relaxed, and to fight the urge to control everything. Needless to say, its still a work in progress, I believe it always will be. I hope one day I will find that place… where I can shut down and have some internal peace.

Today’s look is one that I threw together on the spur of the moment, one where I thought very little about it, and just ran out the door with my jacket in my hand. It’s indicative of a more relaxed and peaceful ME.

My outfit:

Michelle Ludek dress from Zando
Indian Fair leather jacket
Shoes own import
ZARA handbag
Scarf old
River Island earrings
Zuri bracelets

Caio for now,

Spree Spring/Summer 2014 Lookboard event

Just over a week ago I attended the Spree Spring/ Summer Lookboard event which was held at the Brundyn Gallery in Central Town.

Upon entering the event, one could feel the tangible excitement of fashionistas from all over Cape Town. The guests included, press, celebrities, bloggers and photographers who all blended together in an array of dazzling fashion. People were mingling, chatting animatedly, taking selfies, posing for photographers and enjoying the cocktails and food on offer.

“Fashion producer Deon Redman and Spree’s Fashion Director Chris Viljoen worked their magic to create a fashion experience that few will forget. Striking models posed on raised plinths against a backdrop of magnificent illuminate white paper flowers- a refreshing departure from traditional runway shows. Guests assumed the role of fashion photographers- forming a paparazzi style crowd around the installation.”

The Spree Boutique was also launched at this Lookboard event, and aims at making designer wear accessible via an online portal. This boutique will carry designs of Marianne Fassler, Gert-Johan Coetzee, Kluk CGDT, Thula Sindi and Clive Rundle. I am particularly drawn to Thula Sindi’s & Kluk CGDT designs, with its beautiful fusion of design and colour with unbelievable fabrics.

My favourite KluK CGDT creation

A Thula Sindi design I can definitely  see myself in

Neon Spring

Hi beautiful readers,

As I’m writing this it is storming, really storming! The wind howling is through the trees and the rain beating against the windows. It’s so far removed from this day of the lookpost, where one could fee Spring in the air, and leafy green trees showing off their new buds.

September is always such a mix of warm and cold weather, at the same time the school year is winding down into test and exam mode. Kids are looking forward to longer days of leisure and less of daily routine, more play and less slog. I am ready for longer days, beaches and picnics with the family, I feel this urgency to do all these things with my kids before the teens realise they have other interests. They have their own plans, and your only part in those plans is playing chauffeur, providing eats or cash.
As I mull over plans and upcoming weekends, I get a little more nostalgic each time, back to days when things were simpler. The kids were automatically included and were ecstatic with whatever was planned. The message to all newbie parents would be to cherish the moments, the park stops, the picnics - they pass you by in the blink of an eye!

Todays lookpost is bright, where I’ve paired a neon shirt with a white jeans and embellished flats for an easy relaxed outfit. All items are from previous seasons, and date amazingly well!

Outfit details:
Shirt and jeans and necklace from Woolworths (all previous seasons)
Wardrobe bag from Asos
ZARA embellised flats
Ackermans scarf
Rings from Asos & Lovisa

Hey Gorgeous Summer Product Launch

Hi Lovelies!

Last weekend I attended the Hey Gorgeous High Tea at the One and Only. The event was to introduce their new Summer Product range, but it was also a great opportunity to chat and catch up with fellow bloggers. The setting was so relaxed and yet buzzing with excited chatter at the same time, the food divine and obviously aesthetically perfect!

Hey Gorgeous entered my awareness early last year, and since I am a huge Body Shop fan, I was certain I was going to love their products. I DID! The most important aspect of their products is that it is all natural, and anti cruelty - both being very important to me. In addition to this, they have heavenly ‘food’ combinations and smells - fruity, chocolately, minty - just overall yumminess!!!!! Their products smell so good you actually want to gobble it up; so good they actually have to insert a caution on the label instructing you NOT to eat it!

The Summer range is without a doubt a winner in my books. I love fresh, fruity, zesty fragrances for Summer and I am a collector of body mousses and butters - Hey Gorgeous have now introduced the body sorbet. It has a wonderful gel like consistency, and I bought the pineapple and mango body sorbet and a pina colada body scrub. (Did I mention how awesome their body scrubs are???) The sorbet is a great moisturiser (actually like all their body mousses and souffles) but it is perfect for summer as it has that cooling effect when applied. Just plain heaven….

They have been selling online for the most part (shop here) and have now included worldwide shipping as part of their service offering.

A morning to tantalise the senses indeed… Colourful, tasty and sweet smelling all surrounded by beautiful people and views. Bliss!

How pretty are the treats?

Birthday Animal Print

Hi Lovely readers,

My birthday has come and gone, and I usually choose not to fuss too much about it as my eldest has a birthday a mere three days after mine. After my illness though, hubby decided he would fuss, and he’s such a honey he arranged a few spoils without me needing to lift a finger! One of them was our dinner at Baia at the Waterfront, our all time favourite seafood place.

Since I was still in recovery mode, I have not shot any lookposts recently and this was the first in a long time. This animal print coat (it’s actually a lightweight jacket which is perfect for the in between weather we are experiencing now) has been dying to come out and be worn! Thus a lookpost was born, despite me feeling slightly under the weather at the time.

This jacket is the perfect style and length and fabric to see regular wear in any modest fashionistas closet. I have paired it with a cream boyfriend jeans and my peach suede rose gold toe cap heels.

My outfit:

Coat from Kapsule Online Boutique
Country Road Boyfriend jeans
Mango Black Knit
Stylemology rose gold toe cap heels
Scarf from Bespoke Hijab
MrP necklace
Forever New Sling bag
Aldo statement ring
