Sentimentality and some Animal Print

Hi again readers,

As you may have noticed, my blog has been really quiet. It’s an intentional decision, for my blog has to go on a break too, and so posts will come when they come. Since its December, and kids are winding down and sport is winding down, I thought it a good idea to wind down myself before heading off on holiday.

I feel as if this year has been an exceptionally draining one, and whilst  I took measures to take care of myself, things happen and health issues arose. And thus, I feel deserving of my 10 days uninterrupted break with husby- no kids and hopefully no work mails and calls (for him).

We celebrate our anniversary tomorrow and it has been 19 whirlwind years of friendship, love, occasional fights, new experiences and literally growing up together as a couple. I am so grateful to have spent this time with my best friend, who understands me completely, knows my imperfections and accepts me as I am. What more could I ask for? And the best I can offer in return is exactly the same…..

Marriage is a merger
Of souls, of lives,
To forge new paths
With your partner
By your side,
At your back
Protecting each other from the hurts
of the World.

Thank you, my love, for sharing this rollercoaster journey with me.

This look was worn on a most enjoyable night out. I have paired a lightweight coat with skinnies and sneakers for a casual twist.

Tropical Midi

Dear readers,

Exams are finally over! And I feel so relieved one would swear I had been writing these past few weeks. I am grateful to have made it through and now my home can resume its normal routine.

November has been a whirlwind, with the year starting to shut down and preparations for the new school year begin. In the same way, life starts to wind down in all aspects, people start to feel the burn of the year - that inevitable pause looming upon the horizon. Even if there is no leave, at least the public holidays provide a respite from the work routine.

Cape Town is already getting into the holiday mode. The moment the lights are up, malls are adorned in all their festive glory and the beaches start to fill, you know that vacation time has arrived! So let us all start winding down to the end of the year - enjoying the staff parties, the secret Santa exchanges and Christmas carols blaring in the stores. To those needing to do gift shopping- good luck! To those needing to entertain kids - GOOD LUCK!

Today’s look was an outfit worn to a launch and it was a real scorcher of a day although rather windy (in true Cape Town style). I was feeling summery and whimsical, so decided to pair a hat and braid with my tropical skirt and my chunky Forever New pretties.

My outfit:

Michelle Ludek top from Zando
Skirt from Legit
Woolworths hat
Forever new heels
MrP neckpiece
Gifted cuff
Ted Baker bag from Stuttafords
Giorgio Armani sunglasses from Sunglass Hut

Biodermal aesthetics clinic

Dear Readers,

Two weeks ago I attended the launch of Biodermal Aesthetics Clinic, which is situated in the leafy part of Wynberg at Hillcote (corner of Riverstone and Remington Roads). The clinic is owned by the beautiful Nadhiya Dawood and operated from the most tranquil and pristine premises interspersed with a beautiful garden.

The venue was so beautifully laid out, opening onto a lush, green garden where guests could mingle, eat the tasty snack and just soak up some sun before proceedings began. Nadhiya who is a qualified physiotherapist and has worked and traveled the globe, and returned to South Africa with the intention of finding result orientated, non invasive “natural technology in skin care. I was also really pleased to finally meet the stunning Qaanita Abrahams from OnQ Makeup, who provided the guests with free makeovers.

At first I was unsure of what to expect, not being familiar with what an aesthetics clinic is all about, but at the end of the morning I was enlightened and very excited to try their treatments. The demonstration illustrated that without the use of abrasive chemical peels, or invasive procedures, one can remedy fine lines and pigmentation. The treatments involve micro currents, wet/dry microdermabrasion and ultrasonic equipment to achieve outstanding results. With the aid of this  cutting edge technology and highly advanced anti-ageing Bio-Therapeutic products, guests were able to witness firsthand how a quick simple procedure can make an instant difference. No downtime and no redness visible after the treatment and instant skin rejuvenation!
It was immediately apparent that these treatments really are amazingly effective as the skin was smoother with reduced lines, bearing testimony to the claims that it firms, tones and lifts facial muscles.

I happen to find myself at an age where I have noticed the start of fine lines, the pesky freckles I am plagued with during summer and loss of plumpness. One glance at the owner, Nadhiya and her beautiful glowing skin and one would be immediately convinced that these treatments are exactly what they proclaim to be! It is therefore essential that I NEED to book myself for a treatment without delay.

Oversized Denim on Denim

 Hi lovelies,

This week has flown by in haze of exam stress, helping my little one study by setting mock exam papers, math tutoring, the usual house keeping, carpooling and so on. It’s no wonder I feel this intense yearning for a tranquil vacation, to recharge the batteries. And even though things are crazy for a SAHM like me, the fact is I wouldn’t change it for the world. I get to chat to my kids after every exam, discuss the days events without the worries of corporate deadlines looming at the back of my mind.

My boys are at such a critical age, and its usual for teenagers to be moody and reclusive, I am really thankful to have open, chatty young men full of wisecracks and laughter. My home is a constant buzz of bickering, music, kitchen noises (as they eat all the time) and of course the really loud drums!!! During this exam period though it has become silent, making me realise how much life and laughter they inject into our lives.

Today's look is another morning brunch outfit I put together some time ago. The over sized shirt is a trend I can really live in. It’s perfect for the strange weather were experiencing right now, and a perfect cover up for modest fashionistas. It’s also a slight stonewash, which I like, I really don’t think I can pull off the heavy stonewash considering I remember it being on trend previously. I finished the denim on denim outfit off with red accents.

My outfit:

MrP Oversized shirt
ZARA jeans
Guess heels
Scarf from Indian Fair
Country Road bag
Giorgio Armani sunglasses from Sunglass Hut
Lovisa Midi Rings

Ciao for now,
RuBe xoxo
