Zando Blogger Breakfast #ShowLab

Last week I was fortunate enough to attend the bloggers breakfast hosted by Zando at their headquarters. Upon arriving we were treated to omelettes made by the fabulous Designer Omelettes team who are based at The Old Biscuit Mill (another one of my favourite spots).

A quick background to Zando: they started a little over a year ago and have gone from strength to strength. I have always been pro online shopping, so when the Zando ads were flighted, I was really keen to see the offering. At first, a few pairs of shoes were available and nothing quite interested me, however, after a few months the offering had grown exponentially, along with my interest. I then became a regular to the site, and after making numerous purchases,  although the first a pair of wedges which didn't quite fit, I was hooked.

Their service is efficient; and whilst the delivery time was a bit longer previoulsy, it has now reduced from around 4 days to 1 or 2 days. I was even more impressed when I purchased some Decleor products at 3-ish one afternoon and by 8:30 the next morning the courier was ringing my doorbell to deliver! Now that's impressive! The returns process is also effortless, and only a call to their customer care is required and they collect... at no charge! A further BONUS, is that I can shop using my eBucks, and anyone who uses eBucks will tell you how amazing it feels to buy with something other than your cash , which acts like actual cash!!!

We were taken through different looks/ fashion stories by Zac for Spring and Summer, with key looks such as Sports Luxe and 90's youth still trending. Pastels also see a comeback and in contrast so does the grunge look,  for further details  on the fashion stories and more check out  the Zando website.

Thanks to Gennaro and Zac for an enjoyable morning!

Ciao for now,
RuBe xoxo

My Neon Eid

Eid day dawned, and it had turned out sunny and dry and less chilly. We were so blessed after the wave of icy cold the preceding couple of days. I hope everyone had a beautiful day with family and friends.

The end of the fast was celebrated with great enjoyment by the boys who were starting to look really exhausted. The month meant very little play, they spent  a lot of time reading Quran, helping in the kitchen, homework with a little bit of free time. So they were ready to return to normal life and resume sports activities, TV, games and... of course eating!

As usual we spend the day visiting neighbours, friends and family and passing on good wishes. The kids, all decked out in new threads, receive money and gifts, which makes the day extra special for them.

I usually have many unworn dresses in my closet, so I decided to wear one of them and only bought some accessories and a clutch, my shoes were a recent import. I don't really do shopping centres during the fast unless it is an absolute emergency, so no retail therapy during Ramadan (I'm sure online shopping doesn't count?)…

My morning outfit is usually one geared for comfort as I spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing lunch, so I wore my Perry Book Store princess skirt with a silver lurex knit top. I was unfortunately so busy that  I neglected to take pics!

After lunch, I chose a knitted print dress with sparkle tights and my Louboutin inspired neon and perspex heels.

These shoes are actually neon, and not yellow as they appear on this pic - red soles inclusive

Rose Gold... Warm and romantic

Some of my rose gold accessories

In the past year, rose gold has made an appearance in so many accessories. I've seen watches; Fossil had an entire range in rose gold, costume jewellery and even shoes!

Rose gold has been around for some time and it looks like it is here to stay for a while. It looks good on any skin tone, and its warm tones accentuate many colours.

This warm colour (also known as pink gold) has caught my attention, and a few days ago after purchasing another rose gold accessory, I decided to take stock of what I already owned. It turns out that I already own quite a bit of rose gold! It's definitely time for a good clean out of the said jewellery drawers (or maybe just to organize them a bit better) so that everything is easily visible! ;-)

I am an avid jewellery collector so have been watching this trend for a long time now and still love it.
Here I have featured one of my favourite chunky bracelets from Sass Diva; I've even paired it with a neon statement necklace. My tropical print top was bought at the ZARA, an outfit with so many favourites!

Linkin Park Baby!

This week has really been all about the build up to the Linkin Park concert. Yeah, I did some work and had some meetings, and everywhere I went I played their music. The old CD’s dating back to 2000 all the way through to current music.

Lookpost of my Monday outift - a pop of neon:

Country Road pencil skirt| Country Road cardigan and embellished t-shirt

My Tiffany bangle, an anniversary gift bought in London *special item*

Swarovski crystal chain bought in Venice

Witchery snakeskin pumps

Cameo earrings from Lovisa

And this pump arrived this week - more neon accents!

A little something I bought at Zando this week

So it is apparent that I am a BIG fan, unfortunately I could not find the time to get a t-shirt, but definitely queued for one at the concert.

Ayesha, Aneesa (my two sisters-in law) and I

Wednesday turned out to be an extremely windy day (typical Cape Town). It was really unfortunate that it wind caused such a disastrous accident. Whilst standing in the howling wind, we heard a loud crash and saw people running towards the sound. It was awful, people around those who were stuck under the scaffolding structure were trying to lift and help the injured.
Just after the scaffolding was blown over onto some fans
Ayesha on her way to check out what was happening, before paramedics arrived

All the while someone was calling on a loudspeaker for any medics in the crowd or anyone familiar with CPR. A few seconds later, disaster vans and paramedics arrived. We were then ushered away from the scene and asked to proceed towards the stadium. It was such an unreal scene, like something from a movie!
My sincere condolences goes out  to the families.

What a start to a highly anticipated concert!

Once inside the stadium, one could feel the excitement building, or it could just have been mine? Either way, I was on a high, dampened slightly by the tragic accident. It was an eternal wait, probably around an hour before Linkin Park arrived on stage, after the opening act. By then, the crowd was chanting and screaming - a real ROCK concert had begun.

Ghaalid & I awaiting the opening act

They certainly didn’t disappoint, my favourite band member, Mike Shinoda, was in top form; closely matched in talent by Chester Bennington. And of course the rest of the band deserve a mention for their amazing performance, namely, Joe Hahn, Brad Delson, Rob Bourdon, Dave Farrell, Kyle Christener, Scott Koziol and Mark Wakefield

Looking very windblown inside the stadiun, with my t-shirt!

Concert outfit:
Denim Shirt- Legend
Country Road t-shirt, jeans & canvas sneakers
Scarf by Sass
Gifted bag
Ray-Ban sunglasses

Despite the wind and the accident, it was one of THE best concerts ever!
