Moments which make me grateful

I was really inspred by  Leana’s post My favourite moments in 2013 to do one on the positive moments of 2013. It’s rewarding to look back at positives instead of focussing on the negatives which cannot be changed now anyway!

As I am writing this from hot and humid Dubai, I feel so grateful for the opportunity to explore the world. To experience other countries and cultures and more so to be able to share it with my kids. (Despite having hurt both feet at NYE celebrations and just generally feeling bleh!)

My gratitude list:

The Gold Souk in Dubai

  1. First on my list is definitely my other half and my marriage.  I am so blessed to have my partner in life support me in every way. He is my best friend, confidante and the one I turn to for cheering up.
  2. My kids, healthy, bouncy and busy.... And I wouldn't have it any other way. Whilst they drive me crazy most of the time, I'm grateful to have them in my life. They bring a new dimension and purpose to life.
  3. Having the opportunity to extend my sabbatical to a more permanent arrangement, giving me the opportunity it focus on new paths and concentrate on my health.
  4. Having learnt a new skill- I have always been intrigued by fashion and decided to learn to sew and the art of pattern making. Wow! I have a newfound respect for those in the fashion industry!
  5. Being able to travel with my kids and broaden their horizons.
  6. Starting a mini madresa at my home for my kids and their friends. They have grown in spirituality this year and have made me really proud. It's also amazing to be able to participate in this aspect of their lives.
  7. Being able to assist at every Grade 3 excursion this year and spend well deserved time with my youngest son.
  8. Enjoying the month of Ramadan in a different way to when I was working. I had more time for reflection, recitation and my own spirituality instead of frantically rushing around each evening!
  9. Grateful that as siblings we were able to send my mom and younger brother on Umrah to Mecca earlier this year... Making her dream of visiting the Holy Land come true was so rewarding.
  10. I have met so many wonderful fellow bloggers, readers and interesting people through my blogging journey. This blog has allowed me to express myself and know that there are people out there who share my passion without thinking it shallow.
  11. My extended family, parents and siblings are last, but definitely not least on my list. Without them life would not be the same and it's special for my kids to enjoy the kind of love and security that they bring.

Thank you to all my readers and fellow bloggers for all the support, lovely comments and interactions. It makes me feel honoured to know that someone finds my blog interesting!

Ciao for now,

RuBe xoxo
