Comfortable & Happy Chunky Knit

Hi Readers,
Things are pretty busy on my end with lots of exciting things happening behind the scenes, more will be revealed in due course. Even though this week didn't start off all that well (for me), it's always important to keep your eye on the end goal and work towards that. This applies to professional and personal situations equally, there are always bumps along the road, distractions which test your dedication and deviations on the path which pop up. However, while keeping your eye on the end prize, it's important to be open, not to close yourself down as you may just miss that soft knock of opportunity at the door.
With Monday being National Woman's Day, today's post is dedicated to all women, young and old alike. Life throws us so many curve balls, and whilst we all experience different challenges, we are all faced with them throughout our lives. They may be small, they may be life changing, but it's important to strive to handle them with grace. Today I posted the following quote on Instagram:

"Girls compete with each other.
Women EMPOWER one another."

It is so appropriate and unfortunately we are 'blessed' with many girls out there. I just hope that in due time the number of WOMEN will outnumber the girls, and we'll be able to teach, support and help each other instead of breaking each other down. There are too many toxic interactions, derogatory insinuations and energy sapping relationships draining your focus. If you find yourself in any of these situations, take a stand and make a change for the better... It can only start with you.

Today's post is all about comfort, being comfortable in your own skin, being brave to go make up free or even to make that small change towards a better and happier you. I love these oversized chunky knits (scored on the Forever New Sale), they are comfortable and warm, like a good friend. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love my denims, so I paired a fav t-shirt with even more comfortable sneakers....
Comfort. Make up free (only lip balm). Happy.

"Happy girls are the prettiest."

Birthday Animal Print

Hi Lovely readers,

My birthday has come and gone, and I usually choose not to fuss too much about it as my eldest has a birthday a mere three days after mine. After my illness though, hubby decided he would fuss, and he’s such a honey he arranged a few spoils without me needing to lift a finger! One of them was our dinner at Baia at the Waterfront, our all time favourite seafood place.

Since I was still in recovery mode, I have not shot any lookposts recently and this was the first in a long time. This animal print coat (it’s actually a lightweight jacket which is perfect for the in between weather we are experiencing now) has been dying to come out and be worn! Thus a lookpost was born, despite me feeling slightly under the weather at the time.

This jacket is the perfect style and length and fabric to see regular wear in any modest fashionistas closet. I have paired it with a cream boyfriend jeans and my peach suede rose gold toe cap heels.

My outfit:

Coat from Kapsule Online Boutique
Country Road Boyfriend jeans
Mango Black Knit
Stylemology rose gold toe cap heels
Scarf from Bespoke Hijab
MrP necklace
Forever New Sling bag
Aldo statement ring

A Glitzy Welcome to Ramadaan

Dear beauties,

The Holy month of Ramadaan is nearly upon us, and I can’t wait. The heightened spiritual awareness, coupled with the solitude I’m yearning, for will set the scene for much needed introspection.  Aside from abstaining from food and drink from sunrise to sunset, it’s a time for reflection, increased charitable acts and regular recitation of the Holy Quran. Last Ramadaan was my first at home, with no work distractions, it was certainly my best fasting experience.
It’s an added bonus being school holidays (although not really for the boys!) so no endless driving and a leave of absence from soccer. My wish is for all my friends, family and everyone observing this Holy Month to realise their hearts desires and reach their spiritual goals.
Let’s all take time out to be thankful for the abundance of blessings bestowed upon us and remember those less fortunate.

Today’s lookpost is an oldie, but a glitzy one, specially brought out to celebrate the start of this beautiful month. This outfit was worn to a wedding a few months ago, and as you can see I’m still loving the sequin and metallic trend.

I’ve paired my Polo dress with a sequinned blazer for that extra glam factor.

Outfit details:
Supertrash blazer from Zando
Polo dress by Stuttafords
Asos belt
Witchery heels
Scarf online purchase (can’t remember)

Nike AirMax Stylin’

Hi lovelies,

This past weekend was spent in Hermanus, just the hubby, the sea and some serious relaxation. It was so therapeutic, especially with the fast closing in on us, it helps to get away from the rat race an clear the mind. The weather was beautiful, and we enjoyed the outdoors after the chilliness of the past couple of weeks. More on my Hermanus break will be shared in a separate post though.

With Soccer World Cup now a part of my daily (nightly) routine, I decided to share a stadium lookpost, with my USA Independence Day Nike Airmax 90 Hyperfuse sneakers. I am such a sneakerhead, and when my little brother brought these for me, I was enamoured. This casual look was  put together with my pink knit, indigo denims and these pure white babies. It sure will be a mission to keep them clean!

Outfit details:

Edgars pink knit jersey
ZARA jeans
Chiffon shirt by SheZone
Gifted Nike Airmax
Forever new chunky chain
Swarovski bracelet
Bag by Kiss My Heels
D&G Sunglasses

The Monochrome ensemble

Hi Beautiful Readers,

This sudden onset of Winter has also brought along the most disastrous flu bug I have experienced. I’m usually prepared, pumping the kids (actually the entire family) with supplements, making sure they eat healthy and so on and so on… It seems that Winter could not wait for me this year and arrived on my doorstep bearing rain, wind and HAIL! (And the yucky flu bug along with it!)

I really don’t mind Winter, the layers of clothing to hide the evils, the hot drinks and cuddles under the covers… Sigh… It sounds so idyllic, and then I realise that I’m actually the Mum. Which in reality means stolen moments for myself in between the errands, cooking, supervising studies and tutoring! Yes, that sounds more like it… and the former is something I can only aspire to (teehee).

Today’s outfit is a monochrome look I wore when the sun was out, although it was still quite chilly. I pared an embellished sweat top with my slouchy tuxedo pants and threw on a blazer for added warmth. I love colour, and whilst I aimed to do a complete monochrome look, the sunny day inspired me to add the bright heels and olive clutch.

My outfit:

Hilton Weiner Blazer
Forever New Slouchy tuxedo pants
PicknPay embellished sweat top
Heels own import
Makoya Brands clutch
Earrings old
Guess bracelet (old)
Polka Dot scarf (old)
