The Monochrome ensemble

Hi Beautiful Readers,

This sudden onset of Winter has also brought along the most disastrous flu bug I have experienced. I’m usually prepared, pumping the kids (actually the entire family) with supplements, making sure they eat healthy and so on and so on… It seems that Winter could not wait for me this year and arrived on my doorstep bearing rain, wind and HAIL! (And the yucky flu bug along with it!)

I really don’t mind Winter, the layers of clothing to hide the evils, the hot drinks and cuddles under the covers… Sigh… It sounds so idyllic, and then I realise that I’m actually the Mum. Which in reality means stolen moments for myself in between the errands, cooking, supervising studies and tutoring! Yes, that sounds more like it… and the former is something I can only aspire to (teehee).

Today’s outfit is a monochrome look I wore when the sun was out, although it was still quite chilly. I pared an embellished sweat top with my slouchy tuxedo pants and threw on a blazer for added warmth. I love colour, and whilst I aimed to do a complete monochrome look, the sunny day inspired me to add the bright heels and olive clutch.

My outfit:

Hilton Weiner Blazer
Forever New Slouchy tuxedo pants
PicknPay embellished sweat top
Heels own import
Makoya Brands clutch
Earrings old
Guess bracelet (old)
Polka Dot scarf (old)

Caio for now,

Turban in training

Dear beautiful readers,

Todays lookpost is one of my modest looks I am still experimenting with, as mentioned in a previous post- it turns out to be quite a challenge but that doesn’t stop me from persisting. My idea is to find a style that I’m comfortable with, and most importantly, something I can throw together quickly! As a mum, I cannot spend a lot of time primping before going out, so a quick and easy routine is what I need.
This includes, beauty, makeup and even deciding what to wear - I literally need to be able to grab and go! (heehee). I thought it would be an easy journey, to just transition into - but alas it is not! I am so inspired by so many other hijabi and modest women in the world and they’re oh so stylish too.
I continue on my journey….

I’ve paired my monochrome maxi with a ZARA shirt and a trusty t-shirt.

Outfit details:

ZARA denim shirt
Mango Hollywood t-shirt
Nakau Collections skirt
Country Road leggings
Country Road leather pumps
Scarfstop Scarf
Trenery bag

Statement stripes

Hey lovelies!!

A couple of weeks ago, I had the honour of meeting Sandy Nene (http://www.sandynene.com) whilst he was on a tour around the country for an Autotrader project. He is such a fun, full of energy type of guy- I wish I had more time to chat with him. The morning turned out to be rather fun, an interview about my relationship with my car (?!) and I met two really interesting Cape Town bloggers - (Dumisane and Asanda from ctvibes)

The morning was a bundle of unexpected events… enjoy the pics and my outfit choice.

I chose a monochrome undertone, with my ZARA blazer and colourful statement necklace for the morning.

Monochrome Love

Hello lovely readers!

Since Spring has sprung, Capetonians have experienced several seasons - Summer heat, Spring freshness, Winter rain and Autumn crispness. These photos were taken on a particularly lovely day, when I went to lunch at Knife restaurant at Crystal Towers.  As most people will do on a stunning day, we enjoyed our lunch on the terrace, with the stunning view of Table Mountain as the backdrop.

Its days like these that I’m reminded of the beautiful city we live in, and as I’m writing this, I have an overcast view of Table Mountain - beautiful nonetheless. I suppose we should enjoy this lovely city as it is now, before the tourists descend, resulting in overcrowded madness at all our favourite hangouts! Before we know it, it will be beaches packed to capacity, Hout Bay drives filled with traffic and queues of people wanting to visit Robben Island and Table Mountain.

Its unfortunate, that this is also the month my kids are submerged in exams, which means I cannot go indulge in the "tourist in your own town” activities.

I therefore hope, that those of you who are able, go out and enjoy our sights and become a tourist for a day, at least! Try the City Sightseeing Tour it’s so much fun!

Enjoy the pics of my take on the monochrome trend - I’ve paired my polka dot shirt with a relaxed tuxedo pants for a leisurely look.

Since it was October, my little bit of pink I wore all month
