The Monochrome ensemble

Hi Beautiful Readers,

This sudden onset of Winter has also brought along the most disastrous flu bug I have experienced. I’m usually prepared, pumping the kids (actually the entire family) with supplements, making sure they eat healthy and so on and so on… It seems that Winter could not wait for me this year and arrived on my doorstep bearing rain, wind and HAIL! (And the yucky flu bug along with it!) 

I really don’t mind Winter, the layers of clothing to hide the evils, the hot drinks and cuddles under the covers… Sigh… It sounds so idyllic, and then I realise that I’m actually the Mum. Which in reality means stolen moments for myself in between the errands, cooking, supervising studies and tutoring! Yes, that sounds more like it… and the former is something I can only aspire to (teehee).

Today’s outfit is a monochrome look I wore when the sun was out, although it was still quite chilly. I pared an embellished sweat top with my slouchy tuxedo pants and threw on a blazer for added warmth. I love colour, and whilst I aimed to do a complete monochrome look, the sunny day inspired me to add the bright heels and olive clutch.

Wedged Street Style

This past Mother’s Day weekend was one of the best I’ve had in a long time, mainly because this year, we decided not to fight with crowds for a table at restaurants. I spent such a relaxed day, doing very little, reading and spending time with my two Mums :-D 

I do believe that Mother’s day should be everyday because of the “muchness” of a mother and what she accomplishes on a daily basis. But it is great having that one day, just to be acknowledged and shown how much you are cherished. 

I hope all Mums had a fantastic Mother’s Day, and may you always be cherished by your families every single day.

Today’s look is a typical relaxed look for me, I suppose you could call it my “Street Style”.

I have paired my oversized denim shirtdress, with leather leggings and wedge sneakers.

I’ve also included my Makoya Brands Thiros versatile leather clutch to finish off the look. This clutch is the perfect size for everyday essentials and the chain length is just right for it to be used across body too!

Princess Berry #MakoyaStyle Challenge (week 4)

Hello lovelies!

This is my last post in the Makoya Brands Challenge, and I have had so much fun coming up with all these looks. As I indicated in my first post it was intimidating embarking on this project, but it has turned out to be awesome just to be included in something which gets my creative juices flowing.

Aside from the first look I shot, the rest of them were shot in really dreary weather. My outfits were centred around Autumn and were chosen specifically to reveal the different facets of my fashion personality. I love trying different looks, and putting together something original while still being trendy.

Today’s look was chosen to embody my girly side, the side who loves dressing up and looking like a princess - with an  original twist. The full skirt trend has really caught my attention and I could not wait to include it in a lookpost. I have paired an old full skirt red dress with my princess skirt for extra volume. A little embellished shrug, and of course the berry beauties finish off the look. 

It may seem unusual to pair red and purple, but these two colours have been paired rather successfully on the runway in recent shows - so I took the leap and, in my opinion, it worked!

Berrilicious Mom Jeans #MakoyaStyle (Week 3)

Hello readers :-D 

This past week has been an indication that Summer has left us, so it an attempt to enjoy the last bits of the summer rays, we spent the weekend at the Club Mykonos resort. It totally worked, we had sunshine for the 3 days we were there and arrived back home to… rain!

I therefore decided to assemble a Winter/Autumn look with a high-waisted jeans as it’s commonly known. I remember a huge outcry in response to Jessica Simpson’s (now famously known as the Mom Jeans) in 2009. Regardless, I decided to show mine in this post, I really love this jeans for its flattering fit and slight dropcrotch. The style is also so unique and allows it to be worn in various ways, which is perfect for my multifaceted style. And of course, not forgetting the beautiful berry shoe babies.

I have paired it with a chiffon shirt, the trendy fedora and added a leather sleeve coat for added warmth when our beautiful Cape Town shows its unpredictable colours.

Edgy Berry #MakoyaStyle (Week two)

Hi Beautiful readers!

I’ve decided to weave the berry theme into all my #MakoyaStyle posts since I absolutely adore these heels. The colour is so rich- purple plum and in tune with Autumn. Makoya, which loosely translated means “the real thing” is an appropriate name, since the store stocks top name brands and at affordable prices, especially during the flash sales.

Wendy Vesela-Ntimbani, owner and founder of Makoya Brands is a woman who insists on excellence, this was displayed in her hands on approach when my “parcel” went AWOL last week. It was delivered to the incorrect address by the couriers and the way Wendy handled the whole debacle was admirable. Taking ownership, as she realises that her reputation could be tarnished by a third party service provider, she followed through until the issue had been resolved. 

Today’s outfit is more edgy incorporating leather and denim, two of my favourite textures. With Autumn upon us (although it’s been raining so much, it could be mistaken for a Cape Town Winter) layering is the best way to combat the cold. I have therefore layered an old flannel plaid shirt with a denim vest to complete the grunge look, however mixing it up with these luxurious heels puts a different spin on the ensemble.
