Winter Maxi OOTD

Welcome Back again readers,

This week has passed by pleasantly, with more time for recitation and less time carting the boys to and fro (bonus!). I could get used to this kind of school holiday hehe.
We have also passed the halfway mark of the fast, and it is really going by way too fast. There are so many things one wants to do in this month, and before you know it the time has passed. I am so inspired by all the charity drives and the stunning people behind them, two of which I have featured on the blog, read more here and here.
Last weekend, I delivered the Eid parcels for three needy boys who were allocated to me via The FIG Network. I enlisted my sons, who each adopted a boy close to their own age and contributed, quite freely, from their own funds. It was really heart warming to see how involved they were, how they asked questions about the welfare of these boys, and expressing their sorrow at them not having Eid clothes.
It was a necessary lesson and reminder to them that it is always important to give back and to help those less fortunate. As I said in a previous post, this world would be a much better place if each person took it upon themselves to help just one needy individual. We have enough tragedies, missing kids and gang wars to contend with that it's important to bring out the philanthropist in each individual.
There are still some needy kids on the list who haven't been adopted, contact the FIG Network if you'd like to get involved. Further details on their Facebook page.
Today's look is casual, perfect for running errands.
A striped maxi dress layered with a leather jacket for extra warmth (despite the sunshine it was freezing), sneakers and a carry all shopper handbag.
PS:I love mixing sneakers in, with just about anything!

Autumn layering

Hi lovelies,

Autumn is here, and with it comes cooler air, comfort meals and fashion layering. I am a summer creature by nature and enjoy the outdoors, the sea air and picnics with the family. We have been lucky to still have some warm weather, but occasionally the odd Autumn day creeps up on you.

This week has been much better for me, my firstborn is back home and the holidays have been enjoyable with a few birthday celebrations. My world is spinning on an even axis again and I feel more grounded. It’s funny how a missing family member creates such a void in the home and in your daily life, that everything feels off kilter. And whilst he may have had a fantastic time touring Holland and Belgium, one can see the relief on his face to be in his own space again. And the siblings too, seem to be more balanced and back their usual selves. Happiness!

Today's post is an introduction to Autumn layering, featuring the essential white shirt (always a staple in any wardrobe) paired with the parka, also seeing a comeback this season. The statement patterned Chuck Taylors, finishes off the laid back casual look.

Outfit details:

Gap White shirt
Woolworths parka (old)
Guess skinny jeans
Marimekko collab All Star sneakers
Cotton On beanie
Pauls Boutique reversible leather shopper
Accessorize layered necklace
Freebie sunglasses (can’t remember where from)

The Script OOTN

Dear Lovely readers,

Another week, even more hectic and a sick kid to contend with, and while Fridays don’t usually mean  a relaxed weekend for a mum, I’m glad it’s here!
This month I’m really looking forward to the Michael Buble concert, I have always been a huge fan,  I thought I’d share a bit about last months The Script concert.

This was my second time seeing this pop rock band, and I have been moved by their music since “We Cry” hit the airwaves. Since then I have bought every single album and thoroughly enjoy their ballads which reveals their Irish roots. They totally blew my socks off, and there was no better place to be than Golden Circle. Especially when Danny jumped off stage and entered the crowd, but alas, I was a mere arms length from him and couldn’t get any closer :-(

I  have an intense love of music, and change the genre I listen to depending on my mood. It helps calm me down when I’m seething, and so angry I could scream. When I feel down, it can perk me up, and certain songs will bring back memories which are endearing and special and sometimes funny.

Today’s look is my outfit I wore to the concert, comfort being top of mind. I paired a ‘concert’ ZARA t-shirt with Gap skinny jeans and the really funky Zibastyles shoulder chain to add some edge.

Outfit details:

ZARA t-shirt
Gap skinny Jeans
Mr P flannel shirt
Accessorize slingbag
Converse sneakers
Ziba Styles shoulder chain
Tifaany & Co earrrings (anniversary gift)
Boho marks tattoo bought in Knysna
Giorgio Arman sunglasses from Sunglass Hut
Cotton On Peak cap

Relaxed Sunset

Hello beauties,

April has been a month of holidays, public holidays randomly peppered in every week. Whilst this is generally cause for great concern with reduced productivity (can’t help thinking like a business person eek) it also means some well deserved family time. During the last long weekend, we decided to take a leisurely drive to the beautiful dorpie of Stellenbosch and visit Gerry at Giraffe House, since Ihsaan is a huge animal lover. The older brothers got dragged along against their will, but scored a hearty Ocean Basket meal at the end of the day, which was great compensation.

The day ended off beautifully with us witness to another beautiful sunset on Strand Beach. I love the outdoors and feel its important to get my boys away from Playstation, Computers and TV when they’re on break from the hectic soccer schedule. It’s therefore important to grab the opportunities now before Winter is fully upon us!

Ameer is always happy despite being dragged against his will, Ziyaad, not so much ;-(

Feeding the goats, they’re pretty smart little animals

My outfit:

Asos Maxi Dress
Ichi by Stylemology sleeveless denim jacket
Converse sneakers
Woolworths Fedora
ZARA handbag
Raphaella Booz cuff
River Island earrings
Asos LOVE ring
Gold chain gifted
Sunglasses by RayBan

Ciao for now,

Casually Me…

Last week one of the most anticipated events happened, my all time favourite rap artist finally graced our shores. It was one of those concerts I had been eagerly awaiting, I even contemplated going to watch him in Ireland last year! Crazy Much? Absolutely!

The concert took me back to 1999, being a new mom and still very young - his lyrics spoke very strongly to me. Having emerged from tumultuous teens, his rap style was raw and full of emotion, it drew me in and I have been a fan ever since.

A couple of years ago, when his Recovery CD released, I accidentally synced it to my boys’ iPods (after trying to shield them from his music due to explicit content eek). I discovered this when I heard Ameer and Ziyaad singing along to Not Afraid… to my horror they too became instant fans. So they trailed along to their first concert ever, I had two very excited teens on my hands the entire week!

I have no other words but to say he was EPIC! And his entrance was spectacular, a sheet draped across the stage with EMINEM emblazoned on it and on outline of his shadow made the crowd go wild- a proper welcome. His performance, was everything I had hoped for from this controversial rapper.  I will be watching video clips for a long time to come…

My outfit for the night included checked shirt over a sequin t-shirt, thrown in for a bit of glam. It was perfect at home, but when we arrived in town, it was still sweltering so I had to ditch the shirt :-D

Outift details:
Aca Joe checked shirt
Woolworths sequinned t-shirt
ZARA jeans
Converse polka dot sneakers
Adidas cap
Forever New earrings
Zuri necklace
Leather cuff from Lushberry
Asos midi rings
Sling bag Zando
