The versatile shirt dress

Hi Beautiful readers,

This has been the most gorgeous first week of Spring I can ever remember. It’s as if Mother Nature  is making amends for the absolutely freezing and wet Winter we have endured this past few months.
Spring is a time of renewal and rejuvenation, and this is exactly how I feel, having just restarted my exercise programme as well as feeling much better. I feel as if anything can happen, and only good things are in store. Maybe it’s just the sun and the birds chirping, and the flowers blooming - but I find myself in a positive frame of mind. I hope that everyone is feeling the air of new beginnings, it’s time to shed those heavy layers (figuratively and literally) and work towards those those hopes and dreams.

“If you can dream it, you can do it.” -Walt Disney

This is probably one of the last times I’ll be able to wear my long boots, this outfit was from a few weeks ago for a transitional weather day. I love bright colours when the sun comes out, as I said in my previous OOTD post, it brightens the mood as well.

My outfit:

Shirtdress Trenery (Old)
Trenery boots (Old)
Marks & Spencer tights
Ted Baker Bag from Stuttafords
Scarf gifted
Collette Hayman Necklace
Leather Cuff gifted
ZARA studded belt
Aldo earrings
Love Ring from Lovisa

Caio for now,

Unconditional Love

Hi lovelies,

What a whirlwind long weekend celebrating love of all kinds, with my Bloggers Who Bless meet on Saturday, Fathers Day and my main guys birthday!

I always feel so ‘blessed’ when getting together with my fellow BWB ladies, they are such a bunch of sweet, caring women and time spent with them is always enjoyable!

My main guy was so spoilt with the cliched breakfast in bed, the sweet momentos displaying the kids feelings for Dad on mugs, certificates and medals. As cliche as it may be, it is always special to see how excited and animated they get at the prospect of sharing the pressies, singing to Dad and of course the all important breakfast in bed!
Fathers play such an essential part of their kids lives; and whether they work long hours or are extreme disciplinarians, their kids (my boys hopefully too) will model his behaviour, look up to him and aspire to be just like him. It gives them that sense of stability, continuity and the desire to be fathers, and experience that innocent unconditional love.

Today's look, includes this cute Sammydress bat wing top. I love the leopard detail at the back finished in a velvety suede-like leopard print detail. Sammydress is an international online store which ships to South Africa and has the most interesting pieces all well priced.

I paired it with my Mango silk maxi and because of the extreme chill, long Trenery leather boots.

Outfit details:

Sammydress.com t-shirt
Indian Fair leather jacket (old)
Mango maxi skirt
Trenery boots
Woolworths knitted beret
Country Road belt
ZARA handbag
Dream necklace by Lovisa
Pandora bracelet
Shimansky ring
Earrings old

Ciao for now,

Relaxed New Year

Hey lovelies!

I hope your stormy weekend was a good one preferably spent indoors?

With all the flash flood warnings, and the traffic cautionary mentions it is hard not to spare a thought for the needy and those who do not have shelter in such disastrous weather!

It was a fulfilling weekend for me, as I prepared party packs for the kids attending Muslim School for our Islamic New Year celebrations. It’s a time of reflection, of introspection, and so shortly after our pilgrims returning home, one is still in a very spiritual state of mind.

Hubby and I spent the Sunday afternoon, delivering our Zakaah (obligatory payment made annually under Islamic law on certain kinds of property and used for charitable and religious purposes)  which was such a heartwarming task! At the same time it was heartbreaking as we chose to donate to people we knew, and seeing them so grateful for the little they have, makes it hard at times.

I have tried to continue with charity work, and with this past year experiencing health issues, and concentrating my sabbatical on my family and kids has shifted my focus. This will be a New Year Resloution- to once again resume my acts of charity on a more regular basis.

The look post I have for you today… is my typical week or soccer mom look. Sneakers have now found that special place alongside my coveted heels!

This is an old Trenery dress (probably around 3 years old) paired with Country Road leggings and Guess denim jacket to ward off that unexpected chill.

My outift:

Trenery dress
Guess denim jacket
Country Road leggings
Converse Sneakers
Silk Scarf (old)
Aldo earrings

A modest look for a night out

A few weeks ago, we had dinner at Sevruga on V & A Waterfront. It really is one of my favourite spots for a celebratory dinner. The atmosphere is intimate, yet bustling at the same time. And the food? Never disappoints :-D They have a winter special, which is great value for money as you pay a set price for a few choices of starters, main and dessert.

It was a special occasion, so I decided to dress up and try out the turban for an evening out. It's becoming easier with practiceThe weather was pretty chilly and I chose a pair of tights to cover up. with my Perry Book wedges.

Always checking that the doek is still in place!

I was wearing:

Edgars georgette shirt with studded collar
Country Road Ponti skirt
Falke tights
Perry Book Wedges
Bracelet & gold jewellery old

Ciao for now,

RuBe xoxo

A modest look in Red

Trying to be fashionable and modest can be quite tricky at times, as I have found whilst attempting this balance. The current fashion trends do make it easier, with maxi-dresses, skirts, hi-low shirts, leggings all being bang on trend right now.
It is possible to dress modestly and be fashionable (although not ostentatious) as young women around the world aspire to look and feel beautiful.

I will occasionally try to do some modest fashion posts as well to show some readers that it can be done with style.Whilst my wardrobe does not completely conform, I will do the best with what I have.

My modest look below, shows a Trenery panel dress, with a Guess denim jacket, and red scarf. I love the red accents in this outfit and the panel on the dress is so trendy.

I am wearing:

Trenery dress
Guess Denim jacket
Truworths leopard print satin finish pumps
Sunglasses by CK
Earrings by Honey
Scarf : Indian Fair
