Turban tutorial

Hello again lovely readers!

Since I started trying my hand at turbans and scarf wrapping, it has become easier and easier with practice. And whilst I am by no means an expert, due to a few requests, I have decided to post a shot tutorial. (I hope it can assist some ladies out there)

Step 1:

Since most ladies use the flower clip, which I do not own and cannot use as it cannot clip onto my short hair; I have used my sock bun doughnut instead to keep the turban in place. (And to give it a little shape)

Step 2:

I then tie a small non-slip scarf around my head and the bun. This ensures that the top scarf stays in place and does not slip. I don't usually do this step as I am always in a hurry... so this is an optional step but useful if the fabric of your top scarf is rather slippery.

Step 3:

Tie the scarf around your head and bring the two ends around to the top

Step 4: (Also optional)

In this instance I chose to add a headband for a little bit of glamour. Add the headband before wrapping the two ends around the bun area.

Step 5:

Wrap the two ends around the head and bring the ends to the back and secure by tying into a knot.

Step 6:

Tuck in the loose ends and Voila!

If the ends are long enough, tie it into a bow on the side or leave a loose piece down the one side for variations.

Colour denim trend

Hey there lovely readers,

Life has returned to the normal humdrum, school runs, soccer runs, lunch box snacks etc etc. The fast is behind us and it is amazing how quickly my family has returned to the normal crazy pace! I miss the tranquility and spirituality though.

Last summer saw the introduction of coloured denims, reminding me fondly of those colour 501 Levi's back in the 90's. I rarely wore them back then as I was still pretty young, and could not keep up with trends very easily as my mom bought my clothes!

I was quite taken by the colour denim trend, and particularly like my neon ones. I managed to grab two neon pairs on the last summer sale early in the year, with the hope that wasnt just a passing fad. Well, it is around for another season, along with patterned denims, ombre denims, metallics and textured jeans. 

There are so may varieties to suit all tastes, from bold statement floral denims to subtle patterned denims. (Seen in store at GAP).

I chose to detract from the neon with my oversize ZARA handbag, which I pair with almost everything! Its big and such a statement that it works for most looks :-D

A modest look in Red

Trying to be fashionable and modest can be quite tricky at times, as I have found whilst attempting this balance. The current fashion trends do make it easier, with maxi-dresses, skirts, hi-low shirts, leggings all being bang on trend right now.
It is possible to dress modestly and be fashionable (although not ostentatious) as young women around the world aspire to look and feel beautiful.

I will occasionally try to do some modest fashion posts as well to show some readers that it can be done with style.Whilst my wardrobe does not completely conform, I will do the best with what I have.

My modest look below, shows a Trenery panel dress, with a Guess denim jacket, and red scarf. I love the red accents in this outfit and the panel on the dress is so trendy.
