The Metallic Denim Trend

Hi Beautiful readers,

It’s no secret that I adore the mettalic trend, I have so many fashion pieces which reflect this in one way or another. These gold jeans have been in my wardrobe for a while and I usually only bring it out when I want that understated glamour, as opposed to in your face glitz.

This outfit was worn to Hijab Fashion Week, and is perfect outfit inspiration for Ramadaan and ladies wanting to find ways of styling modest outfits. I have found that it’s become easier to co-ordinate my wardrobe to include my pieces in modest looks, and my regular readers would have noticed this during the past year.

Of course it is much easier in Winter, its easy to layer warm furry coats, use snoods and scarves to cover up. Summer is another challenge and one which I suppose every modest fashionista has some difficulty with.

My statement item in this outfit is my beloved gold jeans from Country Road (last year) paired with a coat brought in last Winter and leather booties I’ve had for at least four years!

Cape Town Blogger Meet

On Saturday I joined fellow bloggers at Shelley’s Gourmet cafe in Kloof Street for a most amazing morning. Shelley’s is an adorable, quaint cottage converted into an eclectic, fun cafe. One can get lost in time in each themed room, just taking in her unique decor items.  A huge thanks and appreciation go out to Lauren and Nicole for the morning, which included spoils for everyone, and mini shoulder massages by Rain consultants! Talk about awesome, I felt so relaxed and papmered thereafter, and proceeded to meet and chat to all the beauties present.

Brief talks were presented, the first by Fiona Rossiter, followed by Ronel from Rain Africa and Dirna from IVO health who chatted to us about looking after our pearly whites. Some more mingling, photos and a mini photo shoot with Amina made the time pass by so quickly, I didn’t have the opportunity to meet all the lovely ladies before the lucky draws began! Thanks to Optiphi for my Skin Rejuvenation Treatment and the  Optiphi facial cleanser and chemical exfoliator- awesome prizes!

Shelley's food was divine, the savoury spread followed by the yummiest dessert of chocolate cake and red velvet cupcakes. By the time we left we were literally rolling out of the place laden with an overflowing goodie bag. I can’t wait to book my treatments - look out for posts to follow!

Welcome Home Mum!

My mom recently embarked on a visit to Mecca and returned on Sunday. In the spirit of this holy month, I thought I'd include a few lines on this  special journey which I hope to take. I'll be patient until  my time comes, Inshallah (God willing).

One performs many of the rituals as is required for Hajj (pilgrimage), and spend your days in prayer in two major mosques in Madinah and Mecca. The time is generally used for introspection, asking forgiveness for sins and repeating many of the actions performed by our last prophet , Muhammad (PBUH). Of course, there's also loads of shopping to be done, usually more abayas (black cloaks), prayer mats, jewellery etc etc.

So the sweet thing with my moms journey this time is that my son, Ihsaan (9), wanted to know each day where she was and what she would see and do.  We would then try to follow her travels from SA, he was really interested in what happens in the Holy Land with such fresh curiosity.

At the airport, after getting dressed and out of the house by 6:30am
