Following Destiny to Opulence

Asalaamu Alaykum and Welcome Readers!

My regular readers will know that Ramadaan is a month of renewal for me, on many fronts. I usually start new projects, embark on new educational ventures and really step it up a notch on my personal development and growth. It is therefore so synchronistic to be featuring a fellow eternal scholar and busy entrepeneur in todays post.

I have written about Fadwa Cozyn in the context of her Mobile Therapies business and how she inspired me during her Bucket List Workshop (read that post here), however, this time I am so moved by her passion for opulence, in all forms. The word opulence denotes wealth, richness and luxuriousness, which is embodied by Fadwa, not in the traditional way, but in her warmth, energy and spirit. It is therefore no coincidence that I was drawn to this venture, as I too am a likeminded soul with a penchant for beauty and luxuriousness, which is precisely what her her brand, Opulence, represents.

As a little girl Fadwa envisioned her designs on catwalks across the world, following this dream by enrolling at and graduating from the Elizabeth Galloway Academy Fashion in Stellenbosch. In 2005, whilst assisting her dad in his business, she heard a voice which said she should be a reflexologist. Unsure of what it was, she opened the Yellow Pages, called a number and followed this journey without question. It led her to Durban, Pretoria and right back to Cape Town where she graduated from the Cape Institute for Allied Health Studies. Since 2007, Fadwa has been practising as a qualified Specialised Kinesiologist and offers the following through Mobile Therapies: reflexology, massage therapy and manual lymphatic drainage. She also specialises in the following: life coaching, NLP practitioner, Kinesiology and is a dynamic motivational speaker. She has travelled extensively and has presented workshops abroad including doing physical body work in Turkey & India. Needless to say Fadwa has an extensive list of qualifications in this arena, as well as notable achievements, such as being a regular guest on Voice of the Cape Radio and Channel Islam International.

Fadwa and I connected partly over fashion, with a shared love for silks, leather and unique pieces. She has an innate intelligence for opulent fabrics which she attributes to her royal ancestry and rich heritage. Her roots can be traced back to Java royalty which still runs through her genetic system and referencing. Her paternal great grandfather was a wealthy gentleman who owned vast strawberry fields in Constantia, as well as extensive vineyards while being a prestigious grape exporter. With just a peek into what makes Fadwa tick, is to understand that opulence is in her blood.
And so, I believe the birth of her new business, Opulence is in line with her destiny. A brand which retails unique pieces in limited quantities, manufactured in luxurious silks, leathers, jewel-toned colours and sporting rich embroidery. The feel is a fusion of grandeur and everyday resplendence. Opulence has it's official launch on Sunday, 3rd June at the Peninsula Hotel, 10am-4pm.

In this lookpost I am wearing a 100% silk quilted jacket (reversible side has cotton quilting), a silk printed scarf and black leather clutch, all available from Opulence. This could be a perfect look for Eid, pair the jacket with jeans and sneakers and you're all set for a casual night out. I am a big fan of classic pieces which won't date easily, which is exactly what you'd find at Opulence!

SS15 with Human Image & RuBe's Closet

Hello readers,

I hope this short week has been a good one, it has been another rollercoaster for me. Just when I find myself on an even keel, a few more things come hurling at me and derails emotional progress. This week has taken a lot of energy to try and stay focused on each day. My challenge has been to address issues effectively with the final goal of feeling safe.
Safe.
A word that carries so much meaning, and is sometimes just as difficult to obtain. Nonetheless, I choose to focus on positive things and people; people who inspire and support.

Last week, I was invited to participate in the launch of the Spring Summer '15 range of Human Image - as wardrobe consultant and stylist for RuBe's Closet. Aysha Allie, the designer behind Human Image, is someone whom I've met along this journey, embodies empowerment- not just because she does great work, but also because she is selfless, and eager to empower and assist others.
Her range includes some beautiful, light maxi dresses and shirt dresses, longer length structured white shirts and structured tailored pants. All of these are manufactured using quality fabrics, with the aim that it will last and look good for a while to come.
Her philosophy ties in closely with mine- mindful, smart shopping- which means investing in really good basic pieces (which can be found at her home studio). The great part of her range is that pieces can be tailor made to fit your exact measurements.
The Launch took place at her home studio, themed as a Spring brunch.
Aysha told us about her new range, her collaboration with Gadija Khan; and the fabrics she's introduced and embraced, with the idea of making items affordable as well as classic.
I then introduced my wardrobe consulting, getting a tad emotional whilst doing it- since it was the first official introduction of my 'baby'! Thank you to all the wonderful souls for their encouragement and kind words, it restores my faith in human kindness. (I guess corporate can sometimes make one cynical). Thank you Aysha, Lamees, Gadija, Leila, Natalie, Roshan, Namreen and Imrah for the support on the day!

Doctor Leila then touched on the importance of sunscreen, and recommended Heliocare, a range which really impressed me. A sunscreen, suitable for all skin types, which is also available in a tinted formulation... She even spoke about a tablet/ capsule which can be ingested for skin protection!

Overall it was a beautiful morning spent with stunning ladies.
To purchase any pieces from The Human Image Range, please get in touch with Aysha on 0723711695 or visit her studio at 65 4th Avenue Rondebosch East.

The suncreen will also be available to purchase from Ayesha for a limited period.
Alternatively visit Leila's practice  for the recommended sunscreen at 16 Forest Drive, Pinelands, Tel: 021 8242170.

The only photo I have of myself... and it's a selfie with the gorgeous Namreen!

Introducing Dr Leila’s Integrative Wellness and Aesthetic Practice

Dear Readers,

I have been off the grid with regard to events due to my hectic schedule as wife, mum, sister and daughter that blogger events have taken a backseat. However, a few weeks ago, I was hosted by Pomegranate Events at the launch of Dr Leila’s Integrative Wellness and Aesthetic Practice. It was a stunning intimate launch, held against a scenic backdrop of the Llandudno beach on a beautiful end of Summer afternoon. I was really glad I took the afternoon off to attend as it was completely delightful.

The entire event was catered to beauty, wellness and looking after oneself. Dr Leila Sadien, an acclaimed GP, spoke about her practice and the ethos with which she practices medicine. It’s all about overall holistic body health, looking after the body inside and out and identifying the root cause of health issues rather than just treating symptoms. Dr Leila’s passion comes across in her beautiful, warm, open demeanour and gives one absolute confidence in her offering which I have yet to experience.

Her recommendations do not always extend to medical science and I was particularly keen on hearing more about the medical intuitive and life coach, Chantel Oppelt. A woman who uses her intuition to heal, assist and guide using energy and her talents to restore ‘patients’ to a balanced, happy and healthy lifestyle.

We were witnesses to Dr Leila administer lip filler and botox which form part of her services and fall under the aesthetic banner of her practice. Various health and beauty vendors showcased their products and performed some demonstrations on some of the guests. These treatments included seated massages, facials and a facial peel. Whilst the results  are pretty impressive, I am not sure I am comfortable with fillers and botox, especially after witnessing the needles pierce the skin several times! I was so lucky to have won face products from Innovative Skincare Clinical, which is more up my alley.

There were also some interesting vendors displaying nutritional supplements which deals with internal wellness. Is so lucky to have won face products from Innovative Skincare Clinical too!

It was a pleasant way to spend a Friday afternoon, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you to Lamees Romaney (Pomegranate Events) and Dr Leila Sadien (www.mydoctorleila.com) for hosting and co-ordinating such a spectacular event.

Biodermal aesthetics clinic

Dear Readers,

Two weeks ago I attended the launch of Biodermal Aesthetics Clinic, which is situated in the leafy part of Wynberg at Hillcote (corner of Riverstone and Remington Roads). The clinic is owned by the beautiful Nadhiya Dawood and operated from the most tranquil and pristine premises interspersed with a beautiful garden.

The venue was so beautifully laid out, opening onto a lush, green garden where guests could mingle, eat the tasty snack and just soak up some sun before proceedings began. Nadhiya who is a qualified physiotherapist and has worked and traveled the globe, and returned to South Africa with the intention of finding result orientated, non invasive “natural technology in skin care. I was also really pleased to finally meet the stunning Qaanita Abrahams from OnQ Makeup, who provided the guests with free makeovers.

At first I was unsure of what to expect, not being familiar with what an aesthetics clinic is all about, but at the end of the morning I was enlightened and very excited to try their treatments. The demonstration illustrated that without the use of abrasive chemical peels, or invasive procedures, one can remedy fine lines and pigmentation. The treatments involve micro currents, wet/dry microdermabrasion and ultrasonic equipment to achieve outstanding results. With the aid of this  cutting edge technology and highly advanced anti-ageing Bio-Therapeutic products, guests were able to witness firsthand how a quick simple procedure can make an instant difference. No downtime and no redness visible after the treatment and instant skin rejuvenation!
It was immediately apparent that these treatments really are amazingly effective as the skin was smoother with reduced lines, bearing testimony to the claims that it firms, tones and lifts facial muscles.

I happen to find myself at an age where I have noticed the start of fine lines, the pesky freckles I am plagued with during summer and loss of plumpness. One glance at the owner, Nadhiya and her beautiful glowing skin and one would be immediately convinced that these treatments are exactly what they proclaim to be! It is therefore essential that I NEED to book myself for a treatment without delay.
