Halaal Life cooking class

Hi Lovelies!

Late last year I attended Echi's Halaalife private Asian cooking class. The class is hosted at her home, and she prepares all ingredients prior to the class starting, including the cleaning the chicken!
Upon confirming the class, she will send menu options (which can be found on her website), I chose the Indonesian Sate Ayam with peanut sauce and jasmine rice with pandan muffin as a dessert option.

I have always only eaten Simply Asia, and really did not venture into the unknown Asian options, I haven't even considered attempting to cook Asian food! I had just thought that the food always involved too much preparation, and frankly that it was just too complicated.

I first met the beautiful Echi at an event where we were both guests, and a few times after. Her warm, friendly personality endeared me to her instantly, and this is felt when interacting with her during the cooking class. She welcomed me into her home with the familiarity of an old friend, and the lesson felt more like a catch up than a class!

When I arrived, the ingredients had already been placed on the counter,  and since it was a private class, the lesson was in her kitchen. She has an alternative space at her home for bigger groups. She had even prepared some delicious iced tea which we sipped while working and chatting. More importantly, I learned how easy it is to cook Asian food, where to shop for ingredients and how tasty it was!
We finished off with some great conversation over lunch, and I got to take the leftovers home for the family. Even though the pandan muffins were Hulk green in colour, it was gobbled up by the boys and they have since been insisting that I make the chicken satay with peanut sauce, since it was super yummy!

Thank you Echi for your great hospitality, opening me up to Asian food, and the engaging conversation.
After the holiday break Echi has resumed bookings for classes, so head over to her site for details.

I love the little touches

Hey Gorgeous Summer Product Launch

Hi Lovelies!

Last weekend I attended the Hey Gorgeous High Tea at the One and Only. The event was to introduce their new Summer Product range, but it was also a great opportunity to chat and catch up with fellow bloggers. The setting was so relaxed and yet buzzing with excited chatter at the same time, the food divine and obviously aesthetically perfect!

Hey Gorgeous entered my awareness early last year, and since I am a huge Body Shop fan, I was certain I was going to love their products. I DID! The most important aspect of their products is that it is all natural, and anti cruelty - both being very important to me. In addition to this, they have heavenly ‘food’ combinations and smells - fruity, chocolately, minty - just overall yumminess!!!!! Their products smell so good you actually want to gobble it up; so good they actually have to insert a caution on the label instructing you NOT to eat it!

The Summer range is without a doubt a winner in my books. I love fresh, fruity, zesty fragrances for Summer and I am a collector of body mousses and butters - Hey Gorgeous have now introduced the body sorbet. It has a wonderful gel like consistency, and I bought the pineapple and mango body sorbet and a pina colada body scrub. (Did I mention how awesome their body scrubs are???) The sorbet is a great moisturiser (actually like all their body mousses and souffles) but it is perfect for summer as it has that cooling effect when applied. Just plain heaven….

They have been selling online for the most part (shop here) and have now included worldwide shipping as part of their service offering.

A morning to tantalise the senses indeed… Colourful, tasty and sweet smelling all surrounded by beautiful people and views. Bliss!

Spree event AW2014

Hi beautiful readers!

Last Thursday I attended the very exciting Spree Autumn/Winter 2014 Lookbook and the launch of their menswear event. It was held at Wembley Square and was an absolutely stunning venue which looked very Ooh-La-La! It looked as if all of Cape Town’s best dressed had made an appearance. I even met Texas Battle (Bold and Beautiful) and although I don’t follow it religiously…. I know someone who is a total B&B diehard fan (ahem!) I was also so happy to meet more CT Bloggers and spend some time chatting, mingling and enjoying the event.

"Spree.co.za is an online shop where you can buy designer fashion selected and styled by your favourite magazines. Shopping on spree is easy, hassle-free and fun. It's also completely safe. Stay up to date on the latest trends, browse your magazines’ favourite styles, build up your wishlist, add items to your basket, and shop yourself fabulous.

I have purchased from the Spree store before and have only had great service, so when the gorgeous outfits hit the runway I was really excited but also very wary. As anyone who knows me will tell you, I do a lot of my shopping online, from local stores as well as a multitude of overseas stores, so these beautiful outfits mean bad news for the credit card :-(

The looks included Sports Luxe, a lot of relaxed flowing outfits, maxi dresses and skirts - all of them perfect for a modest fashionista like me! The animal prints, quilting & leather accents and sequins are all right up my style alley, so I’ll have to be super careful when popping things into my cart eek!

A HUGE thank you to Spree and my beautiful blogger pals for making it an enjoyable evening!
