Linkin Park Baby!

This week has really been all about the build up to the Linkin Park concert. Yeah, I did some work and had some meetings, and everywhere I went I played their music. The old CD’s dating back to 2000 all the way through to current music.

Lookpost of my Monday outift - a pop of neon:

Country Road pencil skirt| Country Road cardigan and embellished t-shirt

My Tiffany bangle, an anniversary gift bought in London *special item*

Swarovski crystal chain bought in Venice

Witchery snakeskin pumps

Cameo earrings from Lovisa

And this pump arrived this week - more neon accents!

A little something I bought at Zando this week

So it is apparent that I am a BIG fan, unfortunately I could not find the time to get a t-shirt, but definitely queued for one at the concert.

Ayesha, Aneesa (my two sisters-in law) and I

Wednesday turned out to be an extremely windy day (typical Cape Town). It was really unfortunate that it wind caused such a disastrous accident. Whilst standing in the howling wind, we heard a loud crash and saw people running towards the sound. It was awful, people around those who were stuck under the scaffolding structure were trying to lift and help the injured.
Just after the scaffolding was blown over onto some fans
Ayesha on her way to check out what was happening, before paramedics arrived

All the while someone was calling on a loudspeaker for any medics in the crowd or anyone familiar with CPR. A few seconds later, disaster vans and paramedics arrived. We were then ushered away from the scene and asked to proceed towards the stadium. It was such an unreal scene, like something from a movie!
My sincere condolences goes out  to the families.

What a start to a highly anticipated concert!

Once inside the stadium, one could feel the excitement building, or it could just have been mine? Either way, I was on a high, dampened slightly by the tragic accident. It was an eternal wait, probably around an hour before Linkin Park arrived on stage, after the opening act. By then, the crowd was chanting and screaming - a real ROCK concert had begun.

Ghaalid & I awaiting the opening act

They certainly didn’t disappoint, my favourite band member, Mike Shinoda, was in top form; closely matched in talent by Chester Bennington. And of course the rest of the band deserve a mention for their amazing performance, namely, Joe Hahn, Brad Delson, Rob Bourdon, Dave Farrell, Kyle Christener, Scott Koziol and Mark Wakefield

Looking very windblown inside the stadiun, with my t-shirt!

Concert outfit:

Country Road t-shirt, jeans & canvas sneakers

Ray-Ban sunglasses

Despite the wind and the accident, it was one of THE best concerts ever!

Family weekend :)

GREEN POINT URBAN PARK
Arriving at a very windy park
Wearing: Woolworths skinny jeans| PnP assymmetrical t-shirt| Country Road neon pumps| Nine West bag

What a divine weekend, after another crazy work week- we got to spend some special time with family.  The weekend started with a relaxing Friday evening….

View of the Sunset from my bedroom balcony on Friday evening

Saturday was my niece, Imrah’s, first nursery school concert. She’s the most adorable little two-year old and has everyone wrapped around her little finger.  My 3 boys (and her only cousins on our side of the family) dote on her, so naturally we would attend a toddler's concert to witness her 2 or 3 minutes of fame!
Dancing to New York New York

The theme was the Academy awards and they did little skits from the animated movies. The little ballerinas were super cute! The chipmunks were very energetic jumping around the stage to the hip hop music followed by equally energetic girls dancing to “All the Single Ladies’!

It was absolutely hilarious and so heartwarming. Imrah was a little Minnie-Mouse, with the polka-dot skirt and mouse ears. At first, she was overwhelmed by the audience, but on the second attempt was dancing her little jig to the Mickey-Mouse Club song.

Looking so cute! 2 year old Mickey and Minnies
Another stunner of a day for Sunday (summer is definitely on its way) and we had plans to visit the Green Point Urban park. My other nephews and niece joined us for some outdoor fun. There’s something really soothing about the outdoors and watching the little kids playing their little hearts out.
Accessories: Dolce & Gabanna Sunnies| Bead necklaces from The Space| Gifted Silver chain |Honey Resin Bracelet

Thereafter, blown to the Waterfront to take my other niece shoe shopping. It was her birthday and all she wanted was a new outfit! Since I love ZARA kids, that’s where  we went and she chose the sweetest snakeskin sandal. Little Girls!
Odering Milkshakes for little miss in the background

This was a difficult pic to take, she was so scared I was going to take it off!

I’m so excited to go to Linkin Park on Wednesday! More .!this concert later this week!
Thanks for reading

Ciao for now,

RuBe xoxo

La Playa and #80's Rewind Festival

I suppose it's Murphy's Law that  the day after Eid will dawn bright and beautiful after the cold and rainy weather of the previous day. Due to to extended celebrations my entire household was in a really laid-back mood. The two younger boys had parties to attend later in the aftrennoon so hubby and I decided to make the most of the gorgeous "free" day. Cape Town weather is so unpredictable one never knows what to expect next !

Where to on such a beautiful day? To V& A for some afternoon sun and treats at La- Playa....

I absolutely adore the Louis Vuitton window displays, it showcases the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and one of the worlds prominent Japanese artists, Yayoi Kusama. Its bright and colourful and I just love the polka dots :-)

Ghaalid and I thought we would treat Ziyaad to some special treats... But there was so much on offer to choose from! In the end the gelato, macaroons and milk shakes were on their way.

An array of goodies:

Decisions! Decisions!

I wore:

My new Asos maxi dress, with neon Country Road pumps and a vintage Guess denim jacket.  My handbag (Nine West) is about 4 or 5 years old and a favourite of mine- I thought I'd bring in an unexpected pop of colour to compliment the neon shoes. My necklace was bought at a silver boutique and the pearl cuff from Woolworths. The aviator sunglasses are Dolce & Gabanna and  the watch by Guess.

Wednesday evening was the #80's Rewind Festival at Grand West. The idea was to accompany hubby who was keen to attend, and in exchange he would join me at Linkin Park the following week.  To say that I was bored would be a massive understatement! About an hour and a half into the concert I recognised ONE song... " I am the one and only".  To add insult to injury it was sung by an artist other than the original, Chesney Hawkes.
Another hour and a bit of actual snoozing... And Belinda Carlise shot onto the stage looking pretty darn hot for a 54 year old! I just don't understand a woman who doesn't want to wear shoes though?!
Then a bit of browsing through the food court, the current performer was so bad we needed some reprieve (and even aimless browsing was a reprieve!).

Rocking my neon biker at the 80's Rewind Festival-looking a bit windblown!
Guess Jeans|ZARA t-shirt|Country Road Docksiders

And in the final 40 minutes, The Man, Rick Astley, graced us with his presence. Just as I remembered him back in the day with that velvety voice and perfect hair. This was defintiely the highlight of the show!

Looking forward to Linkin Park next week!

Eid and the week before

Oh heavens! This week has been a total rush, after realising that there was so much I still needed to do.
It started with a seminar at the Crystal Towers hotel, one of those financial ones, which just seems to go on and and on....
Eid was a few days away and I still had lots of running around to do.  Buying new Eid clothes for my youngest (Ihsaan) was first on the list, the only one who will still wear whatever I come home with. At least I can still have some fun with him especially with the gorgeous new trends and great kiddies stores to choose from. He also loves anything new!

Eid morning dawned, with really dull weather! Oh what a disaster- the outfit bought for Ihsaan whilst it was super trendy was also really bright. Nonetheless, he loved it and thought he could brave the cold with his brightly checked summer shirt. It only lasted about an hour, then he decided, he would wear his favourite denim shirt over his checked one. It actually worked out pretty well!
Ihsaan contemplating the weather

Earthchild skinny berry pants|ZARA neon checked summer shirt |Earthchild denim shirt and Nike hi-tops
The boys & good friends...still looking fresh!

Just a snippet of the delicacies on offer
I usually cook a dish, add it to the dishes my mom-in-law has made, and we enjoy lunch as a family. This is a big deal, there are 14 of us, and whilst any meal together feels festive, Eid lunch is just that much more special. The food, atmosphere and children all high on sugar by 12 o clock certainly adds that “special” feel!

Or they could be exhausted half way through the day!
Being the Mum (and cook), I had a morning outfit to complement the kitchen duties, something simple but elegant at the same time. We always have a busy morning at home, although the weather seemed to have kept all the neighbours at bay!

My morning outfit;

Satin print circle skirt| black embellished ZARA t-shirt| Nine West nude pumps| necklace by Lovisa

Eid is always lovely, spending time with family, and remembering those performing Hajj (pilgrimage).  It’s also an important time to remind the kids to be thankful for such loving families and to be mindful of their advantages.
End of the day photo booth!

 My afternoon Eid outfit:
Silk Trenery print dress| Country Road Wool Cardigan, Fish net stockings| Nine West Nude pumps| Honey Necklace

Cream Patent Leather Slinbag with chain and ribbon detail: Charles & Keith

My other half and I ... looking very tired!
