Kimono and love

Hi lovelies,

As the weather is turning, exams are looming on the horizon and I’ve been fasting, I realise this year is  passing by in a whirl. Plans, plans and more plans…. all in the to-do list and before you know it the time has passed and they are in the ’should have done’ category.
Nothing shows me how fast time is passing more than looking at my kids, they have grown so much in this year, that I’m starting to feel a little panicked at the rate that things are happening. The moment they entered their teen years, so many other challenges seems to have developed.
Regardless, I am happy, that they’ve grown into such confident, sociable young men with good morals, I can only pray that they maintain this into manhood.

Today’s outfit is a relaxed weekend look, where we quickly decided to do an afternoon coffee with the boys. Thankfully it was a weekend with no sport commitments - or we would never have made it out of the house!

The kimono is a trend that I’m really into, it helps to add a light layer for the chill in the air, and at the same time offer some modest coverage. I have seen them at Cotton On recently, but could not find a print that I really liked. Until I spotted Saara’s (Minimal Exposure) range of kimonos - Yay! I was really disappointed that I would miss her stall at the Freemarket, but she was kind enough to deliver some to me after the event. I am so pleased with it, if you’re keen to bag a kimono, check out her site for further details.

Of course, ending the day with the most beautiful sunset on earth

My outfit:

Kimono by Saara at Minimal Exposure

Kirstenbosch Crown Jewels Centenary Collection unveiled

I recently attended the celebration of Kirstenbosch’s first centenary at their beautiful botanical site. It is always a pleasure visiting this indescribable paradise set against the slopes of Table Mountain. It is one of my favourite places in Cape Town, and without fail, every visit is memorable.

The morning was a tribute to the past 100 years of promotion, conservation and appreciation of biodiversity in South Africa. I am sure it takes great organisation and dedication from SANBI (South African National Biodiversity Institute) to maintain the grandeur that is Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, evidenced by the fact that it is regarded as one of the most diverse gardens in the world.

'Kirstenbosch lies in the heart of the Cape Floristic Region, also known as the Cape Floral Kingdom. In 2004 the Cape Floristic Region, including Kirstenbosch, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site – another first for Kirstenbosch. It is the first botanic garden in the world to be included within a natural World Heritage Site.

In true splendour, which mirrors the beauty of the gardens, the morning was concluded with the unveiling of the magnificent Kirstenbosch Crown Jewels Centenary Collection. A bespoke jewellery collection was commissioned to assist with fund raising, a collection fit for royalty - which will be auctioned on 17 June 2014 at the Old Mutual Conference Centre, Kirstenbosch. All jewellery pieces may be viewed at the Cape Grace Hotel from 26 May 2014.

And the SHOWSTOPPER…..

These pieces are such a gilded feast for the eyes, a true reflection of our beautiful gem Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

A must see is the newly built Tree Canopy Walkway which offers a birds eye view of the gardens. Read more here.

Trend Metallic

Hi lovely readers,

You would have noticed that my headscarf has become a constant in my outfit posts recently, and I am starting to feel more comfortable with it the more I don it. I have made an attempt to always wear head covering and ensure that my ensembles are always modest, so now that Winter is here, the hats and beanies will help too. I like to change things up and express versatility through fashion. So I will go from casual to conservative to dressed up, depending on my mood.

I have really been in love with everything metallic (and sequins) for the longest time. And whilst I feel that it could be used for everyday outfits, metallic accents just make an outfit pop, or gives it that extra glam for a night out.

In today’s look, which is a semi-formal look, I have paired my gorgeous Stylemology silver pumps, with a slim denim and print tunic with quilt and leather detailing.

My outfit:

Woolworths tunic
Woolworths jeggings
Stylemology leather pump
Accesorize beaded clutch
Forever new snood
Necklace and earrings by Lovisa
Lips YSL tint

Wedged Street Style

This past Mother’s Day weekend was one of the best I’ve had in a long time, mainly because this year, we decided not to fight with crowds for a table at restaurants. I spent such a relaxed day, doing very little, reading and spending time with my two Mums :-D

I do believe that Mother’s day should be everyday because of the “muchness” of a mother and what she accomplishes on a daily basis. But it is great having that one day, just to be acknowledged and shown how much you are cherished.

I hope all Mums had a fantastic Mother’s Day, and may you always be cherished by your families every single day.

Today’s look is a typical relaxed look for me, I suppose you could call it my “Street Style”.
I have paired my oversized denim shirtdress, with leather leggings and wedge sneakers.
I’ve also included my Makoya Brands Thiros versatile leather clutch to finish off the look. This clutch is the perfect size for everyday essentials and the chain length is just right for it to be used across body too!

My outfit:

Country Road Shirtdress
Woolworths leggings
Wedge sneakers from Kiss My Heels
Zephyr peak cap from Asos
Thiros Sling Bag by Makoya Brands
Legit necklace
Pearl earrings old

The Emerald City

Hi beautiful readers,

Another crazy week has passed, and with it the election hype. It was so awe inspiring to see how my youngest son took a keen interest in the process, asking so many questions about the political parties, the government and our country. This is the reason we vote, to ensure a bright, beautiful future for our kids. To offer them the best opportunities, so that they learn and grow into responsible , moral and ethical leaders. They are afterall our future, so lets take ownership and make every vote mean something.

My outfit I’m sharing with you today is one I wore for a fashion show a few weekends ago, I wanted something bright and green. It’s kind of symbolic of our country’s green (young) democracy and bright future.

Let’s celebrate our beautiful country!

Outfit details:

Jacket own import
Mango embellished shirt
ZARA linen pants
Scarf overseas purchase
Nine West heels
Mulberry clutch overseas purchase
Lovisa necklace and bracelets

Relaxed Sunset

Hello beauties,

April has been a month of holidays, public holidays randomly peppered in every week. Whilst this is generally cause for great concern with reduced productivity (can’t help thinking like a business person eek) it also means some well deserved family time. During the last long weekend, we decided to take a leisurely drive to the beautiful dorpie of Stellenbosch and visit Gerry at Giraffe House, since Ihsaan is a huge animal lover. The older brothers got dragged along against their will, but scored a hearty Ocean Basket meal at the end of the day, which was great compensation.

The day ended off beautifully with us witness to another beautiful sunset on Strand Beach. I love the outdoors and feel its important to get my boys away from Playstation, Computers and TV when they’re on break from the hectic soccer schedule. It’s therefore important to grab the opportunities now before Winter is fully upon us!

Ameer is always happy despite being dragged against his will, Ziyaad, not so much ;-(

Feeding the goats, they’re pretty smart little animals

Woolworths Fedora
