Turban in training

Dear beautiful readers,

Todays lookpost is one of my modest looks I am still experimenting with, as mentioned in a previous post- it turns out to be quite a challenge but that doesn’t stop me from persisting. My idea is to find a style that I’m comfortable with, and most importantly, something I can throw together quickly! As a mum, I cannot spend a lot of time primping before going out, so a quick and easy routine is what I need.
This includes, beauty, makeup and even deciding what to wear - I literally need to be able to grab and go! (heehee). I thought it would be an easy journey, to just transition into - but alas it is not! I am so inspired by so many other hijabi and modest women in the world and they’re oh so stylish too.
I continue on my journey….

I’ve paired my monochrome maxi with a ZARA shirt and a trusty t-shirt.

Outfit details:

Mango Hollywood t-shirt
Nakau Collections skirt
Country Road leggings
Country Road leather pumps

Chilled cat print

Hello lovely readers!

December is upon us and Christmas is all over the stores, this means the holiday season has begun. Before I can embark on any fun filled activities with my now unoccupied kids, I needed to get through numerous school obligations. The week passed in a blur of awards ceremonies, school and sports,  as was evident on my Instagram feed this weekend.  And a very important occasion, Ameer (my middle child) had his junior dance on Friday! It’s aways a time of mixed emotions, as it means another year has passed and your babies are moving on in the world. They’ve grown another year, learned so many things and developed even more of their individual personalities.

Parenthood, the journey of nurturing and growing young souls and sending them out into the world. At times, it is richly rewarding, at others, maddeningly frustrating! To those starting out on this rollercoaster, savour and enjoy every moment, every hug and every achievement.

Todays lookpost is a chilled casual look with an oversized T-shirt and Converse sneakers.

Statement stripes

Hey lovelies!!

A couple of weeks ago, I had the honour of meeting Sandy Nene (http://www.sandynene.com) whilst he was on a tour around the country for an Autotrader project. He is such a fun, full of energy type of guy- I wish I had more time to chat with him. The morning turned out to be rather fun, an interview about my relationship with my car (?!) and I met two really interesting Cape Town bloggers - (Dumisane and Asanda from ctvibes)

The morning was a bundle of unexpected events… enjoy the pics and my outfit choice.

I chose a monochrome undertone, with my ZARA blazer and colourful statement necklace for the morning.

Relaxed New Year

Hey lovelies!

I hope your stormy weekend was a good one preferably spent indoors?

With all the flash flood warnings, and the traffic cautionary mentions it is hard not to spare a thought for the needy and those who do not have shelter in such disastrous weather!

It was a fulfilling weekend for me, as I prepared party packs for the kids attending Muslim School for our Islamic New Year celebrations. It’s a time of reflection, of introspection, and so shortly after our pilgrims returning home, one is still in a very spiritual state of mind.

Hubby and I spent the Sunday afternoon, delivering our Zakaah (obligatory payment made annually under Islamic law on certain kinds of property and used for charitable and religious purposes)  which was such a heartwarming task! At the same time it was heartbreaking as we chose to donate to people we knew, and seeing them so grateful for the little they have, makes it hard at times.

I have tried to continue with charity work, and with this past year experiencing health issues, and concentrating my sabbatical on my family and kids has shifted my focus. This will be a New Year Resloution- to once again resume my acts of charity on a more regular basis.

The look post I have for you today… is my typical week or soccer mom look. Sneakers have now found that special place alongside my coveted heels!

This is an old Trenery dress (probably around 3 years old) paired with Country Road leggings and Guess denim jacket to ward off that unexpected chill.

Monochrome Love

Hello lovely readers!

Since Spring has sprung, Capetonians have experienced several seasons - Summer heat, Spring freshness, Winter rain and Autumn crispness. These photos were taken on a particularly lovely day, when I went to lunch at Knife restaurant at Crystal Towers.  As most people will do on a stunning day, we enjoyed our lunch on the terrace, with the stunning view of Table Mountain as the backdrop.

Its days like these that I’m reminded of the beautiful city we live in, and as I’m writing this, I have an overcast view of Table Mountain - beautiful nonetheless. I suppose we should enjoy this lovely city as it is now, before the tourists descend, resulting in overcrowded madness at all our favourite hangouts! Before we know it, it will be beaches packed to capacity, Hout Bay drives filled with traffic and queues of people wanting to visit Robben Island and Table Mountain.

Its unfortunate, that this is also the month my kids are submerged in exams, which means I cannot go indulge in the "tourist in your own town” activities.

I therefore hope, that those of you who are able, go out and enjoy our sights and become a tourist for a day, at least! Try the City Sightseeing Tour it’s so much fun!

Enjoy the pics of my take on the monochrome trend - I’ve paired my polka dot shirt with a relaxed tuxedo pants for a leisurely look.

Since it was October, my little bit of pink I wore all month

Magnum Pink & Black Event

Last week I was fortunate to attend the Magnum Pink and Black launch at Shimmy Beach Club.  After a very dreary start to the morning, the afternoon turned rather pleasant, just perfect for a beach venue!

It was such a fun filled event, with a nail bar, cook-off and the very first twitter auction. I even had the honour of meeting Janez, Jeannie D, Bonang to mention a few, of the awesome celebs who graced the events with their presence.

The launch was to introduce two gorgeous flavours to the Magnum range, namely  the light Pearly Pink pomegranate flavoured ice cream , and a more Daring Black Chocolate covered espresso flavoured ice cream.

As a person who loves new and innovative ideas, I was especially impressed with the 5 minute twitter auction. One had to tweet @magnumsa as many times in the 5 minute time period and #theprize. This was just a taste of the actual twitter auction happening on the 23 November with amazing prizes up for grabs. For more information click here.

Amina, Nabilah and Naeema from The Jam Jar ( who unfortunately finished work a tad late) ensured that the afternoon was a memorable. I love the fact that new friendships can be so comfortable and easy, unpretentious and warm. Thank you ladies for a wonderful afternoon, complete with Glamcam and Magnum ice cream on tap!

An added bonus was having the chance to meet some fellow bloggers, and unfortunately there were some I didn’t get to meet :-(

Enjoy the stunning photos taken by Amina Ebrahim (who, by the way, won the first twitter auction! Yay for fast fingers!!)

What an idyllic setting
